My kids got lice at school and the school is checking the classrooms, but my kids say she doesn't wash her hands in between checking each of the kids. Can she spread the lice?

Lice jump 40 feet. If they were on her, they could jump on the other kids. Washing her hands is important, but not the only solution. Talk to the school. She should be wearing gloves and changing them between each student.

A nurse visits a school one day a week. She checks health records in student's cumulative folders, she checks for inoculations, etc. Once a year she checks sight and hearing for all. She has to check every child put up for special services, and she will see any child sent to her with a suspected problem. I once sent an adolescent girl to her because the girl always smelled of urine. It turned out that the girl had a problem that probably would have gone unnoticed. Head lice is a tricky issue. The nurse will check if someone is sent to her, but she does not go around checking everyone like she once did. I also remember there being some sort of check for scoliosis.

Highly unlikely. And remember, lice like CLEAN hair.. not dirty hair.

She should be using gloves in the first place, and can dip or wipe them (alcohol, etc.) in between.
