'Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - No one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a " Holiday ."
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was nowhere to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas;
it won't touch your ears.

What excites you about Thanksgiving, Merry Holiday and Happy New Year?

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Durbin, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Reed, on Kerry, on Clinton !

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

What does Thanksgiving, Merry Holiday and Happy New Year mean to You?

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Love the poem. The bad thing about it is that it is true! :(

Here is a poem that my brother said at our Church's Christmas program last year. I think that you will like it!

JESUS IS BETTER THAN SANTA

Santa lives at the North Pole; Jesus is everywhere

Santa rides in a sleigh; Jesus rides on the wind and walks on the water

Santa comes but once a year; Jesus is an ever present help

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited; Jesus stands at your door and knocks

Santa makes you stand in a line to see him; Jesus is as close as the mention of His name

Santa lets you sit on his lap; Jesus lets you rest in His arms

Santa asks, “Little boy, little girl, what is your name?” ;Jesus knew our names before we did

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly; Jesus has a heart full of love

Santa offers “Ho, ho, ho”; Jesus offers health, help and hope

Santa says “You better not cry”; Jesus says “ Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

Santa’s little helpers make toys; Jesus makes new lives, mends hearts, repairs broken homes.

Santa makes you chuckle; Jesus gives you joy.

Santa puts gifts under your tree; Jesus became our gift and died on the tree

THERE’S REALLY NO COMPARISON. JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON.

LOL Nice poetry! I liked it. Yeah, it makes me nuts to hear that kind of PC crap being spouted everywhere. But then again we don't really bow down before Christmas ourselves, you know? Technically, December 25 is an ancient pagan holiday that was only "christianized" by the catholic church so we don't really hold to the day. We are trying to move away from that and have ourselves a New Year's celebration instead. We celebrate Jesus' death and resurrection - because that is where our salvation comes from!

So very true and so very sad...

Even though the Christmas celebration came from pagan origins in part, we were celebrating the birth of the Christ child....

One of my all time favorite movies...It's A Wonderful Life...a Christmas classic, is not politically correct and may offend someone....

no swear words, no porn, no drugs, no guns......but it is not PC....

A depiction of the nativity may offend someone...a homeless family that took refuge in a stable while the young girl gave birth....really offensive...to king Herod....

the spirit of king Herod is still trying to destroy the Christ child...how very sad....

did george orwell have anything about PC?

must not offend, everything must be the same and bland....

Good one! I had heard that the reason Christ's birth was celebrated on the pagan holiday (Dec. 25th) originally, was that the Christians were being persecuted for their beliefs, but could celebrate at the same time without standing out so obviously. The more things change , the less they change!

Nice poetry. I have no problem with Happy Holidays, expecially when you are talking about all of the holidays as a group (which would include Turkey day, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's).

Excellent! Did you write this?!! I'm so sick of political correctness and the lie of separation of church and state it makes me physically ill. The only thing that is considered a virtue any more is tolerance and that doesn't include tolerance for Christianity. The seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas mean a time to give thanks to GOD for His provisions for us and to thank Him for sending His precious Son into this sinful world to suffer and die to redeem us from an eternity in hell. HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND MERRY CHRISTMAS !!

Unfortunately I don't calibrate nor care for Christmas. There are many reasons behind this. One of them is that the whole thing is so corrupt and is misunderstood. The other is I have many bad memories from my childhood in regards to Christmas.
I don't mind thanksgiving. A time of friends and loved one getting together and spending quality time. A great time to remember all the wonderful things, and to be thankful for all the wonderful things that we have. Thank you and have a super day. Tchau!

Is it such an unbelievable explanation that maybe the department stores put up 'Happy Holidays' signs instead of 'Merry Christmas' signs because they want to leave up the signs all throughout the holiday season, and since there's more than one significant holiday in December, they just put Happy Holidays to include them all -- and it's not some grand liberal America-hating conspiracy to remove Christ from everything?

If it's Crap in Wrap, maybe it's a Trap with a Flap;
like trap doors of heaven lead to both life + death.
I am the door is the (more excellent)way to life only.
