Yesterday Evening, a Jehova's Witness gentleman handed me a copy of a Watchtower and we spoke for a few minutes.
I told him I was Muslim and I think Jesus was great Prophet.
He responded that the problem with Muslims is that they serve two different Gods...the God Jehovah and Stae politics.
I told him that Islam is a way of life and our religion includes positive politics.
He replied that politics is of the devil and getting involved is against God's will.
Is he correct; does God wants us to serve him and ignore the politics in our daily lives?

It depends on the Muslims. Some like to discuss while others don't. It helps to have a knowledge before hand so you are not depend on them alone to tell you about their faith.

As for politics. Islam is not a religion but rather a way of life. It impacts Muslims' lives in every single thing. Politics are no different. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was a statements and a leader, the form of gov't in islam is Khalifah (islamic rule). And those with most knowledge serve better as leaders compared to those lunatics with no or very little knowledge.

Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. Muslims believe that there is only one true God.I also undrestand that some Muslim beliveve that the bible is Gods word but superceded by the Koran. So no doubt a Muslim worships one God. No doubt you will agree that we all are under the same pressuers and suffer some of the same problems in life. Yes? The bible tells us who is in control of this world and it governments (1 john 5:19) And it is this wicked one that is primarily responsible for the suffering we see today. Happily the bible points to a time when the problems thst afflict us all will be no more. (rev 21:4) If you would like to learn more ask one of Jehovahs witnesses the next time one comes to share scriptual thoughts with you

There are many places in the Bible that says Satan is the one in control of human politics. Also many places that show at Armageddon all human kings and military from least to greatest all over the earth (not just on a 70 mile hill in the Middle East) are to be destroyed.

Luke 4:5-8 Satan tempting Jesus by offering him all the kingdoms (old fashioned word for government) of the world.

Revelation 19:11-21 Description of how massive the war is against human politics, earthwide (mentioned also at Daniel 2:44).

Revelation 11:15, 18 God's kingdom is to "destroy them which destroyeth the earth". Human governments do it with greed, pollution, war etc. So they will be repaid in kind and unseated from rulership.

James 4:4, Revelation 17:2, 5, 18:3, 4 Involvement with human kings/politics is referred to as harlotry, adultery and fornication against God.

There are many more.

As to the question, do Muslims discuss religion with JWs: In MOST Muslim controlled countries, it is illegal for any non Muslim to speak of his/her religion at least to Muslims. You go to jail or get executed for it. In some countries, it is even illegal to go to the house of a Muslim unless they have personally invited you (this is for anyone, any reason). There are many more normal ordinary things illegal in Muslim controlled countries also.

Those in democratic countries esp. born and raised, pretty much talk about what they like to who they like just as other people do.

In answer to your first question Do Muslims discuss religion with Jehovah's Witnesses.

Clearly since you did, if you are a muslim, then yes, at least in your case. I had a muslim renter and we discussed the Bible and Jehovah, and many other things.

In answer to your second question, We as Christians choose to not be involved with political matters. Consider, the Bible tells us the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one, Satan.

Yes, my brother's a Jehovah's Witness, and is trying to "save" me. Also, this was one of the *many* Christian denominations I practiced - from as early as I can remember until age 26. I would have become a JW (Masha Allah, I didn't!), but they said I didn't attend enough meetings. Wow... keeping me from dedicating my life to God threw me for a loop. It wasn't my fault my parents worked nights! Praise God many years later I found Islam!

Generally, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that while God is supreme, this world is Satan's. So it's best to avoid "worldly affairs" such as politics. The idea is you can't have two masters, so you can't serve God and this world and voting means you believe in this world's system. Also, they often refer to the Bible verse which says to "give Ceaser what is due" - so basically you pay your taxes or do other "required" things, and avoid intermingling with worldly people and affairs. If you can, try to imagine the view of, "Voting doesn't do much good because what God wants will ultimately prevail, and the demise of this world will come no matter what." So voting for a better person in the school Superintendent office seems superficial...

Elders will even "disfellow" brothers and sisters whose sins are learned of publicly and don't seem repentent enough. Like one young woman who became pregnant.... they announced in front of the whole "Kingdom Hall" - not a church - her name and said she wasn't to return until she repented! Umm.... who are they to say when she's repentent enough? Don't you think she feels bad enough being single with her belly growing? We can't support her, and love her back to living a good life? I don't think that's what Jesus (pbuh) did!

Again, they're just trying to keep the "world" and its influences out.

Interesting isn't it?! :)

Oh, and try not argue, of course. They are trained in their "Theocratic Ministry School". This "school" has levels... first you're an "unbaptized publisher", then a "baptized publisher", etc. You're not allowed to be baptized until you pass a test. They even count their hours "in the field". Many try to "clock" as many hours going door to door as possible to become a "pioneer minister". So depending on what you say, they'll be trained in how to respond and "bring you back" to the Bible. (Their Bible is called the "New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures".) The Watchtower is a publication studied each Sunday by witnesses around the world (so worldwide they're learning the same information), and it's over seen the the Seven Elders at the Watchtower Society in New York. They include lots of scriptures to "confirm" their interpretations.

Ask for a copy of their "Reasoning from the Scriptures" - which is their own breakdown of "worldly" religions and how to "reason" with them. It's supposed to help them convert you. Typically you are not allowed this book until you are baptised (becuase you might fall into the snares of Satan by learning about other religions...). It just may surprise him that you know about it! Also, see if you can have him ONLY refer to the Holy Bible without their other publications next time you meet. Or ask why they attempt to predict the end of the world, but use the Old Testament to denounce psychics...

The article below is hilarious, about another JW that reverted to Islam. I couldn't stop the tears from rolling down - in laughter! I can totally relate to the author.

Also, Youtube has some great videos on JWs debating with an Islamic scholar. But I must admit the JW isn't represented too fairly because obviously he hadn't had enough training yet.

Greet them in peace, and don't be afraid to tell them, "I'll have to get back to you on that!" So you too can go look up ayats/surahs and have your own evidence! They're just human beings like us, trying to seek the truth! And you must admire their sincerity in trying to save us all from being posessed by unclean "spirits"! It takes a lot of moxie to approach strangers about God!

No, JW's are trained to counter any ones beliefs. They stay out of politics because they always need someone to tell them what to do next. All their services are the same across the country, there are no original sermons they all come from the Watchtower.
You know you're religion, you know that Muslims don't believe in two separate Gods. You were right to tell him Islam is a way of life. No he isn't correct. God wants us to serve him, but not in any extreme way, ignoring your daily politics would be an extreme. See the 'problem with JW's' is that they think they are the only true religion, and that is why they go out and recruit more people. Trying to put down your own religion, by telling you there is a problem with it!

Who are Jehowa Witnesses? In Muslim States, every one is just a Christian. Probably they would not dare to call on homes here and say such unwise words which are not worthy of preachers. If I am able to identify a Christian as a J.Witness, I know, now, how to make him wiser. Thanks for this entry in Questions Forum

it rather is what JWs have self assurance...... under the rule of Jesus Christ and his heavenly corulers, peace and happiness would be useful in all the earth. (Psalm 37:9-11) those in God's memory would be resurrected and could have a good time with suitable well being. (Acts 24:15) by utilising their faithfulness to God, obedient mankind would be granted what our unique mother and father lost—eternal existence in human perfection on a paradise earth.—Revelation 21:3, 4. in the Bible e book of Isaiah, we get a preview of what existence would be like in the Paradise earth. No inhabitant of Paradise will say, "i'm ill." (Isaiah 33:24) Animals will pose no danger to guy. (Isaiah 11:6-9) human beings will construct attractive properties and inhabit them and could plant plant life and consume to delight. (Isaiah sixty 5:21-25) apart from, God "will actual swallow up dying continuously, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will rather wipe the tears from all faces."—Isaiah 25:8. quickly, obedient mankind will stay under such blessed situations. They "would be set loose from enslavement to corruption and have the mind-blowing freedom of the babies of God." (Romans 8:21) How remarkable it is going to be to stay continuously in the promised earthly Paradise! (Luke 23:40 3) you would be there in case you act upon precise awareness of the Scriptures and workout faith in Jehovah God and Jesus Christ. and you will have confidence that it does make experience to have self assurance in a paradise earth.

Matthew 22:15-22 commands disciples to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and unto God that which is God's. Some preachers take this as a vindication of importing the Christian worldview into politics, and this is the root basis of the Christian Coalition, which at one time was an organization of Christians who took a faith-based response to the world around them. Then of course, that little dweeb, Ralph Reed, decided to use Pat Robertson's following in a callous, calculated attempt to propel himself into power. Fortunately, Dr. Reed was derailed by his own cupidity, but in the process, he pretty much wrecked the Christian Coalition. Still, there are many devout Christians who view politics as a necessity. Jack Kennedy said it best: God's work must truly be our own.

Witnesses are floopy in so many ways, I do not pay them any heed at all. Forget not that Witnesses are not monotheistic; for them Jesus is not the same substance as the Father, but is a secondary deity. I am aware that conventional Muslim belief denounces the Christian Trinity as polytheistic, and it certainly has that danger (though the polytheism in Christianity is not in the Trinity, but in the Cult of Saints), but Jehovah's Witnesses take it one step farther and draw a truly bright-line divide between El/Shaddai/Yahweh Sabaoth and Jesus.

The other testimony that Witnesses are not Christians: See how they hate!

Oh, wait a minute, Witnesses have hatred in common with Xians.
