Go get Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment. It is not only for dandruff but also for itchy scalp. I have never had a dandruff problem but occasionally get itchy scalp. I swear after the first wash you will feel a difference. The shampoo also smells good after your hair dries. It doesn't smell like dandruff shampoo. It really worked great for me.
I have tried the Neutrogena T-gel and even had some shampoo prescribed but H & S is the only one that has worked. I would try it before the others as it is the least expensive. It is in a blue bottle.
Once you use it for a couple of days and the rash clears up you could go back to your regular shampoo. If it starts itching again you might want to switch shampoos.
Good Luck

Have you tried taking some Benadryl in the evening for a couple of nights? If it's an allergic reaction (itchy bumps) then this may really help you. You could also want to try something that stimulates your scalp - there are some that look like nubby hairbrushes that are made out of a flexible material that you use in the shower. Also, try using slightly cooler water when you wash your hair (hot water can cause your skin to itch) and use a cooler temperature on your blow dryer (if you use one). I have also given myself an aloe hair masque - basically coat your hair and your scalp line with aloe and wrap your head in a towel and let it rest for 30 minutes and then wash out. It helps soothe your scalp and moisturize your hair.

Try a coal tar shampoo. Nuetragena has one and there are cheaper store brand versions too. Either work. I don't care for the smell of them but after maybe a week of using it you can use it once in a while or as needed.

Well...I don't know about the other things but I know how to deal with frizzy hair. I don't straighten or dye my hair and wash it every day using shampoo and conditioner, usually pantene pro v. I then Towel Dry it a bit and comb my hair out. I then towel dry it some more the comb it out again and then I spray some hair spray all over. Mind you I don't put oodles of spray on. Then I comb it out again. Then I put some hair gell in it using my plams distributing it evenly (put some in it rub hands together and run them through your hair). Then I comb my hair out again making sure that the top layer of my hair has some gell on it all over. and depending on the style i wish today I let it down or I let it dry a little and put it into a ponytail. P.S Washing your hair does not dry it out just make sure to use conditioner. Blow drying your hair does not do anything for split ends either.

Go to a health food store. They have better stuff than regular stores do. I know someone with this condition. Although it isn't serious, you can't find shampoo to treat it in regular stores.

Tea trea oil can be irritating also - see if changing shampoos makes a difference.

you need the stuff in the blue bottle that deals with that condition...it is called Selsen. Good luck and like I tell my kid brother...STOP PICKING AT THAT!
There IS a medicated shampoo too...I think the name has the word "scalp" in it.
