Much like symbolism, it means what the observer interprets it to be. If you are taught from the beginning that is what it is, and you believe it, then that is what it is to you. If you are allowed to formulate your own opinion, then that is what it means. An example is George W. giving the University of Texas "Hook 'em Horns" sign. Some took it to be a Satanic symbol. Others took it to mean what he most likely meant it to be - Hook em (Long)Horns.

The opposition to Rock n Roll that I was faced with was due to the lifestyle that too many partook. This was WAY before Death Metal was around. I look forward to playing in such a band with my grandkids in about 15 years. Enjoy it while you can.

Let's not forget about how many C&W songs deal with excessive alcohol consumption and cheating on a significant other. Seems that those who loathe Rock LOVE that stuff, and it's OK.

To answer your add-on, they rock! And so does Amon Amarth. Look past the imagery and absorb the energy.

There's less of a connection between rock music and satanism than there is between pizza and satanism. I have no idea where people got this idea. Most rock music has nothing whatsoever to do with religion of any description.

No rock originated from the blues. There are some satanic metal bands I know of, and there is the whole Robert Johnson legend but the two don't really have anything to do with each other. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.

I became a lover of rock music in the very late 60s ,I remember old prudes saying that back then.
While I am sure some songs are as a whole it's a load of crap.
Listen to the words if it's offensive then yes ,if not enjoy.
Could not the same argument be applied to classical music or any other form of music.
I remember when they use to burn the beetles albums

Yes, there are death metal bands that use satanic imagery for shock effect, and a handful that are aactually satanic, but its folly to generalize froma small sample. Bob Dylan is one of the great rockers of all time, and hes about as "satanic' as the energizer bunny.
One irony of all this is that Anton Lavey, the founder of the Church of Satan, profoundly disiked rock and roll, and heavy metal in particular. I read an article in the Detroit News in which he was quote d saying that reminded him of "airplanes taking off" He was more into Irving Berlin and classical.

No, rock music is based on people who get together to make a band who want to write music that rocks. For the most part religion has nothing to do with music.

No. That is ridiculous.
Actually, some rock musicians are religious and spiritual...Bob Dylan, the Everly Brothers.
To say that all rock music is evil is a grossly incorrect generalization.

now I don't know are you such noobs, are you ever heart for Norway black metal scene, Mayhem, burzum, Immortal, Darkthrone, bathory, celtic frost, band members do such things like church fires, destroying graveyards, drawing satanic sings, have lyrics of songs about satan... etc

Any music that lulls the listener into a "comfortably numb" state of emotional relaxation, or whips the listener into a frenzy of wreckless abandon, is putting the listener into a state or vulnerablity to my (Satan's) influence whereby I will distract him/her from concentrating on worshipping God so I can entice him/her to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh and the world.

Those who play such music while singing lyrics about "Jesus" or "God" are no different than millions upon millions of others who draw near to God with their mouths but their hearts are far from Him.....they are my puppets.
