I'd buddy up with Q. Sure it's risky but rewarding if done right and by our standards he's practically a god anyway.

Good, if you could give human an age of 3 centuries and still you talk about technology and human need of God.
You accept in your statement that the reality still remains, if the technology is there means, research would be there, Research or science is the subject which studies about Reality. Reality always higher Than science.
Just turn and think that 'you' in 21st century, are you in need of God?
How do you feel, whether you need God or God needs you?
You did not come on your own. You are not going out on your own, if you don't put an end.
I feel that God wants you.
In fact I don't want to use the word, 'God'.
Because every one has his/her own god.
The need is the 'Purpose'.
You talk this much, like in 24th century.
Can you tell the 'purpose' of human that is of your self?

Science and technology have their limits. Morality must improve as technology get more powerful, with stronger negative consequences, if abused. Our world has a lot of problems today, because of our technology being abused, and because of our war technology. Our traditional religions are still living in the dark ages, from where they were born, pretty much. They are, unlike science, not open to that which is new or the best, no matter the source. They need to update their spiritual beliefs, with the best and newest in spiritual ideas, and training techniques, so as to help us cope, with the very serious problems, that this highly technological age has.

Considering that we are all under a death sentence, with all of our cells slowly breaking down, it does raise questions in my mind of the afterlife, as death is an inevitability.
Possibly borg technology could halt/slow cellular degeneration, but all it would take is one photon torpedo blast from that pesky Captain Piccard and your borg cube is toast. And then what?

I wouldn't "need God" if I were left in the year 100bc... much less in the 24th century.

And it takes intelligence to write what you just wrote. Without God you are nothing and you will always be nothing.
