There are two users on here currently that are cloning Christians' accounts. One of the Christians is john_d_ayer, the other is Jesus Saves (with a picture of a cross against the backdrop of a sunset).
Have these children no other defense than to resort to these kinds of attacks?
Now, I don't know if these people doing the cloning are atheists, Buddhists, Muslims, Wiccans, pagans, agnostics, or what...but (this is the REAL question) how can we, as a community, discourage this kind of activity?

Okay, I'm sorry, I assumed that a user below was a clone because they have an avatar identical to another user, and user name similar to the person with that same avatar.
I shouldn't assume, but I did anyway. I shouldn't have.

I do agree that cloning accounts is inappropriate. It could be done out of immaturity, just plain dirty pool, or as you've suggested, for defense ("Have these children no other defense than to resort to these kinds of attacks?") It seems to be on the same level as reporting people who don't share a point of view, but have done nothing else objectionable.

Well before Yahoo started pulling accounts like mad, it was pretty easy to tell a clone. Now it has gotten harder since half the people here are level 1 or 2.

But if you are sure it is a clone hit the report button. That is one of the few things I will report.

I assume by 'cloning' we are talking about users with multiple yahoo accounts. I know yahoo does allow multiple accounts, but I don't know about yahoo answers. I see no reason for having more than 1 account on answers, although many people have multiple email accounts. As for being moral or not, I can see nothing immoral in cloning here, although I see that it is highly unethical and reprehensible.

If you see it's a clone, report it as one, there's a box in the reporting section for additional information, put "this account is a clone" and eventually they'll get deleted.

In all honesty, I don't notice people's accounts very much, I vote a thumbs up/down according to the answer, not the account.

Cricket; that was very humble of you to apologize. We all make mistakes.
Back to cloning. No it is not a moral thing to do. I believe though that the cloner in not doing any harm to anyone else other than themselves. It is very easy to spot a clone. The date of their account starting up is there for everyone to see. They really make themselves look pretty dumb if they think others are not going to notice that.

Cloning sucks. Thankfully it's usually pretty easy to spot a clone, because the views they share are the polar opposite of the person they're cloning. It's pretty ridiculous. If you disagree with someone, hopefully you are intelligent enough to counter them with your real account instead of having to resort to childish mockery.

There have been several such incidences recently and and nearly as bad is the "ban wars" that hit various individuals.

Stopping this sort of thing would probably take several full time moderators. Writing to Yahoo, in mass, to express the problem with cloning might help.

i'm so happy your sister got here through one in each of those adverse time, i could be lost without my sis! i won't be in a position to think of what something of you went through. That pronounced, that's organic and human for persons to worry the unknown, so, i think of, that denying that straightforward survival intuition is to disclaim our very humanity, our very easy "residing creature-ness". i visit declare, maximum people who have actually confronted demise tend to reach at a state of popularity, which alleviates the terror fairly. One thinks to themselves, or a minimum of I did "nicely, that wasn't as undesirable as i presumed it replaced into going to be!" As maximum anybody right here is prevalent with, i'm an atheist, yet, I do have faith in a form of reincarnation, I see demise as a transformation, forsaking this incorrect, broken physique that keeps to betray me and reason me soreness. If Christians, or anybody else for that count, have been to stop fearing demise it does no longer bode nicely for the persevered survival of the human species. In different words, i think of your unique question, could human beings, Christian or no longer, worry demise is sweet spoke back with a sturdy definite. without that worry we would walk gladly in to risky situations which will, often, kill us. Edit: it particularly is okay {{{pink Queen}}} i understand you meant to! {stupid Yahoo, I say that lots, do no longer I?}

No, that would be worse than genocide.

And no, I'm not a clone. I'm not pretending to be anybody. This is my avatar and this is my name. I've never made any claims about being anybody other than who I am.

Thank you for being presumptuous.

I think it is clear from my name that I am not this other person. Anybody who thinks that I am, clearly has no business making these claims.
