We see in Rev 21:1 that on the New Earth there will be no sea.
Why is this so.
What sort of connection does the sea have to God's judgement as seen in Genesis 1:9-10 and Jer 5:22 and also to demons as seen in Matthew 8:2--32.

Thank You so much for your answers

Hi Sandy,
I haven't had a lot of time to really think about this but, I think that the Crystal river that flows from the Throne of God may be all that is needed. On this physical earth there is a need for oceans and seas, I think all our needs will be met by God and that is a place from where the blessings flow.

In Rev 21 If you reference that to Isaiah 65:17 and 66:22 you will find that God told him of the new heaven and new earth an eternal one. Also In Rev 13 and 1 you find that the sea is the place where the beast rises up from. Maybe that is his dwelling place, till that time when it, the false prophet and the dragon unite. However the unholy trinity will not prevail, there efforts are doomed to fail because Christ will over come and will defeat them and we will find the end of their story in Rev 19: 19-21 and 20:10. Amen.

In Jer 5;22 I think that God is proving to Israel that he is God and that even the sea in under his control. Such is the awesomeness of God that we should feel each time we communicate with Him. Israel had forgotten how God had preserved them and that their being was dependent on Gods blessings.

In Matthew 8 I think it shows the intent of the demons to destroy life, even if it has to be the life of a pig, also that of the Love that Jesus has for every man, The one that every man around had given up on and forced him into the tombs to live. But Jesus came to rescue him from the legion of demons that had en dwelt him. It teaches us about the Love of God and His ability to take care of all our needs.

And also it is truly funny how little some people know about the things of God. I may not have all the answers right but some people on here, haven't a clue.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
-- Rev 21: 1

That is a very remarkable statement. There is no more sea in the new heaven and the new earth.

Now if you have been planning to have a little cozy cottage on the seaside during eternity, forget it. There will be no sea.

There is much speculation as to why this is, and we are not sure at all as to what it means.

But in some way I think it reflects the fact that actually physically the oceans of our world are salt to prevent the spread of decay and corruption that would centuries ago have eliminated the human race from this planet were it not for the purifying quality of the sea.

There is no need for that in the new heavens and the new earth. There is no sea. There are bodies of water. There is a river that flows through it and makes glad the tabernacle of God.

It does not mean the elimination of all bodies of water necessarily. There may be lakes and rivers, etc

Revelation is a symbolic writing and this was known by all the reformers, including Luther. The 'sea' it speaks of is not literal. Seas, Water, even floods and rivers metaphorically or symbolically represent PEOPLE / Their DOCTRINE or words. John says that Yahshua "SIGNIFIED" this message to him, i.e. gave it in signs, or symbolically. The dragon vomited out a flood to kill the body of believers, i.e. he sent false DOCTRINE to kill the world off, and he has killed MANY with false doctrine. Most are spiritually dead. The SEA will no longer be there because it represents doctrine of people and actually multitudes of people too. ALL those remaning will know him and be known of him that are present at this event, which takes place after the millenium which begins soon, as we are on vial 6 of Rev. 16 now. This event will bring to complete end all opposition. The Adversary element will be completely destroyed. The sea, people and their doctrine, will have served its purpose and will be needed no more. The former things will not be remembered nor come to mind. Speaking to ISRAYLITES he says also their seed (offspring) shall remain before Yahweh FOREVER, Isa. 66. Now we know who is gonna be their, and therefore WHO this covenant promise is actually too. And that is not some so-called 'spiritual Israyl' as the replacement theology people make up.

I suggest HISTORICISM echatology, which is what all the reformers held to. Dispensational futurism is a product of "rabbi Ben Ezra" the Jesuit Ribera in disguise. And Preterism/amillenialism are false doctrines which came about when Messiah did not soon return to establish a physical kingdom as is promised, and the Jesuits bolstered it, along with the lies in the City of God.

I believe that in the Beginning all of the Oceans, seas, and lakes that exist now were not present. These are the "leftovers" of the Flood. There were seas but I believe they were MUCH smaller. Now the earth is 70% water, I believe then it was only 10% if that (surface level). God was hovering over the "waterS" plural....the water surrounding the earth that I believe also "hovered". He split them and left one where it was and the other on the earth. After He split them He said "Let the water under the sky...." It wasn't under the sky before the expanse and the split. The water ON earth now I believe came from UNDER the earth's surface...."The springs of the deep opened up..."

Do some research on a man named Kenneth Hovind.

Why will there be no sea? We will all live in one big City....what would we need a sea for? We never meant to eat meat (fish) anyway and we can't drink salt water so.....what would be the purpose?

Honestly - we REALLY won't know until we get there... since for now - we "see through a glass darkly." But the verse evoked by your question that came to mind was:

"Who is a God like Thee, Who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depth of the sea." Micah 7:18-19

Perhaps the removal of the sea is symbolic of the abscence of sin in Paradise.

There IS the river that flows from the throne of God, however... so there will not be an abscence of all waters.

(Ezekiel 47 - all and Revelations 22:1)

Peace.

GREAT Question, pay no attention to the pin heads who disregard our faith.

There were no oceans before the flood, that his how animals were able to migrate to different continents (not all of that plate tectonic stuff that cannot be substanciated).

The Earth is going to be restored to its pre-flood state. Humans lived like 10 times longer and reptiles got enormous. We were at peace with the animals.

God's judgement not only brought rain from the atmosphere for 40 days and nights (that water was IN the atmosphere..that is ALOT of water to be stored up there) kept plants and animals nurtured and protected us even more from the sun's harmful rays (we lived to almost 1000 years.)

Water also sprang up from under the Earth, so there was a large under ground water shed. Satan is associated with the Seas and Oceans because he is associated with bring sin and judgment to Man and our Earth. THe Oceans have separated humanity and created disunity.

Hope this helps

Kevin

I've always seen that verse in Revelation like John was being moved away from the earth, not that it was actually "passing away" as in dying. Since from space the Earth looks like a big blue marble, I figured the last thing he'd see would be the blue, the sea.

I have no idea what connection there would be to the other verses; it's natural as in the Matthew verse that the sea is involved for they lived right there by it.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
The new earth after the judgement time is in heaven so that sea is no longer needed.
It has no more connection with this earth where we are at present living because this earth will vanish or passed away.

the bible really isn't clear about why there wont be any sea, i'm not sure, i suppose there are some good reasons for it, maybe to have all the space where sea's are, to use for extra land for all of heaven's inhabitants. and we wont need all that water supply anymore, god will provide us with water. also the sea causes erosion, and maybe god doesn't want anything on the earth that will cause it to break the earth down. i guess we will never really know why, until we make it to heaven, but god has a plan for everything, so just have faith in him to take care of all the plans, god bless.

Good question. I never noticed that before. This is my guess. In the Garden of Eden everything was watered by springs and mist. I believe the fractured earth will be restored, all ground made level. Like I said it's a guess. Shalom.
