Many Christians believe in angels. Many Pagans believe in spirit guides. If a Pagan mentions spirit guides, they are told it is a demon. Why do Christians assume that an angelic being is NOT a spirit guide when both perform the same function? Or do you have a different idea on what an angel/spirit guide is?

The Goatherders Book of Fairytales is NOT a reliable source. If angels are supposed to interact with humans as a guiding spirit, wouldn't it be more appropriate for them to attend to those who need it most?

Keltasia,
Remember you are not dealing with just a religious belief when speaking with Christians. You are speaking to delicate self-egos that have to have absolute agreement to all they believe and its nomenclature to feel comfortable and unthreatened.
Superbeings may appear or take actions in any way they wish. With Christians, it appears that they have as much or more respect for such a Superbeing as their created Satan as they do for all and any other Guides or Protectors of any title.

Terry and Wiccan Rider are right.
You also have to remember that many Christians - not all - feel they have to defend their beliefs because even they, at times, question their beliefs even if they will not admit it. They feel a need to show conviction in the eyes of mortals and hope that their deity believes their convictions.
All spirit guides in our faith are angels in others. They, xtians, would rather you say angels because it makes them feel better and makes them feel as though they are doing their Gods work by "sharing" the gospel rather you would like to hear it or not. Some of us have spirit guides or protective spirits. My belief is that the protective spirits are those that protect us from dangerous harm. The spirit guides help us make decisions since they have a better understanding of the outcome of the decision rather it be good or bad and help nudge you in the right direction.
Christians do have a spirit guide but they believe it is a single deity directing them or making the decisions. But wouldn't that null and void the free will clause?

New agers believe in angels. I know a few pagans who feel that angels and spirit guides are the same. Terry gave a great answer.
Just remember when dealing with Christians, they are right and we are wrong simple as that. We are hell bound and they are heaven bound. They have absolute truth and we have only lies. Their absolute truth cannot be proved or even agreed upon by themselves.
Christianity is the only way even though there are hundreds of conflicting Christian beliefs it is still the only ONE way that actually has thousands of paths.
Dealing with Christians you have to remember that the bible is the one truth but they cannot agree on what it actually says.
I believe that spirit guides are the same as angels we just don't call them that. If you research the Catholic Saints and names of Angels you will find they resemble pagan Gods and heroes and Goddesses and guides.

Perhaps it is the same thing. I personally don't know of the Pagan way, but Angel means "Messenger." And yes they could be considered as spirtual guides. So I would assume that it would be the same.

it clearly states in the Bible that God sends His guardian angels to protecy us...there are even books that talk about angels coming to speak with people, but they announce first that they are for God...for example when Mary was told she would be having a son...the angel said Dont worship me, worship God...thats an angel....
It is demonic when a spirit..and there are spirits because the Bible also states that the spiritual realm is full of them.. when they claim to be someone, like a dead aunt or whatever. Pagans dont believe in God, so I am pretty sure they dont believe in angels.

A demon can be as pretty or as ugly as it wants to be.
Satan is the great deceiver of many.......
This is what Scripture says about angels:
Hebrews 1:14 “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”
Angels are around us believers at all times.....we just can't see them.
