i've noticed that there seems to be a minor language issue between christians and atheists around here.
an atheist will post stuff like:
"how dumb is it to believe that the earth is flat?" (gen. 1-5)
"how dumb is it to believe that outer space is made entirely out of water?" (gen. 6-8) or
"how dumb is it to believe that jerusalem is located at the centre of the earth" (ezekiel 5:5).
but christians post:
"how dumb is it to believe that humans evolved from apes?" or
"how dumb is it to believe that the earth is more than 6,000 years old?" or
"how dumb is it to believe that people live in china?"
to me it seems fairly clear that when an atheist says 'dumb' he means 'determined to believe things which are not true'; but when a christian says 'dumb' he means 'willing to believe things which are not only true, but obvious'.
i wondered are there other places where words mean something different to christians and atheists.
then i realised that when a christian says 'proof' he means what an atheist would normally call 'irrational prejudice'; when a christian says 'love' he means 'dissing members of any other sect'; and when a christian talks about 'tolerance' he means 'burning witches'.
are there other words christians have trouble with?
