Old Man -- When we are in public we do say it out loud.....Not yelling or voices raised, but we bow our heads, hold hands and quietly say a thank you to God. We are not out to make a show...that is not appropriate in my opinion.
Peace.

Gem you are such a lovely lady, your family is so lucky to be in the hands of such a wonderful Mom, I hate to say it but no, we do not say Grace before every meal, only the big Sunday dinner, and on holiday's, I feel so bad now, I am going to try to say Grace more often, because I am grateful to God for everything, Thank you , for reminding me to say Thank you to God everyday!

Yes we do say it but not at restaurants. I don't know why not though. It's normal to thank God for your food and the company around the table. My fiance's family also says grace before each meal. It's civilized and a nice way to start a meal.

No, we don't....I am sure that previous generations of my family would have done, though....I know there were people in my grandparents' generation who thought along those lines. I am sure I remember that whenever my father's aunt used to come and stay with us, she would say a quiet prayer to herself before eating.....and I remember visiting an aunt and uncle of my mother's in 1993, and we held hands and said Grace before meals while we were there....in keeping with their tradition. Sadly, these people have now all passed on.

Good question!

We don't do it everytime we sit down to eat, but then again it's not often we are all together to eat.. but when we do, which is usually just the holidays, we take time before we eat to acknowledge that we are blessed by being able to be together and healthy and what not.. Not sure if it is your usual "grace", but it's our way.

That was a nice question.

Nope - wouldn't even know how to.

Update: Let me try

Oh mighty invisible man in the sky. I can not see or hear you, but have been told by people who have never seen of heard you to thank you for this food. This humble meal is small because of you. We give much money to the people that tell us you exist, and this is all the food we can afford. Mighty all seeing God. Please don't let the Hindu's be right - if they are, this steak you have provided me will be a bad thing. Amen

No we don't. When you are out in public do you say grace aloud? If so could you not just bow your heads and say them quietly? Are do you have to say them out loud?

I applaud you for that! We usually say grace at meals at our house, although we do not get together much anymore. I believe that is a wonderful tradition.

We do. Growing up, each kid had his or her own to say before each meal, Now the grand kids lead grace at my parents. I still say it too.
