Is it true that religion is why there is a god?

Trade ya stupid question for a stupid question.

Way to affirm the consequent there!

Your argument would look something like this.

1. If there is a God, then there are religions.
2. There are religions.

There is a God.

It's a common fallacy. To illustrate further, I will show a common example of another one.

1.If I don't put gas in my car, then it won't start.
2. My car won't start."

I didn't put gas in my car.

It seems to make sense at first until you think for a minute. There are plenty of other reasons a car won't start. Maybe the engine died, maybe you absentmindedly tried to start it with your house key etc.

Similarly, there are many other reasons for religions whether any God(s) exist or not. People need explanations for natural occurrences, comfort, reason to conquer their neighbors etc.

Actually, you have it backwards: if there were no religion(and/or no superstition or irrational thinking), then there would be no concept such as god. God is just a concept, not a reality.

No.
It's because there is no god that religions exist.
