Hello all. My wife and I are looking for a Tibetan Terrier pup.

My mum has had Tibetan Terriers previously and while I know Tibetan Terrier pups aren't that difficult to find as in years gone by, it's still not easy to find local breeders. And of course there are the inheritable genetic defects to take into consideration.

My wife has previously had a West Highland Terrier which recently had to be put to sleep due to old age. My wife would like to get another West Highland Terrier pup and I would like get a Tibetan Terrier pup and we'd like to get them roughly at the same time so they can grow up together. But obviously while West Highland Terrier are readily available, Tibetan Terriers aren't so much.

Does anyone have any contact of breeders in Lancashire (or nearby counties) please?

The best way to find a healthy puppy from a reputable breeder is via the breed clubs - contact the 2 clubs above, they should be able to put you in touch with your nearest breeder.
Good Luck

Go to the Kennel Club website and they will have details of the Tibetan Terrier Club of GB, give the secretary a phone call and they will put you in touch with a breeder in your area or they can put you on their waitlist, all breedclubs have information of which breeders have litters available or planned and you can also go on a waitlist.

That way your Tibetan Terrier will come from a reputable source and will have undergone all the compulsary health checks before coming to live with you.

You may have to travel outwith your county to get your pup but if this is the breed you want then it is in your best interest to get the best you can.

I am glad to hear TTs are still hard to come by usually after winning Crufts disreputable breeders will churn out pups to cash in on the breeds popularity without any regard for health screening, hereditary defects etc

Definately locate the breed club and take it from there, good luck with your future pup(s)

in basic terms a notice of warning. My neighbor had a Tibetan Terrier, and it grew to become right into a alluring canines, whether, it grew to become into very possessive, aggressive and undesirable around different canines and strangers. they had him in obedience instructions and employed a coach for him, yet he grew to become into not trainable. they had to grant him away while he bit yet another 10 twelve months previous interior the face requiring plastic surgical operation. it is to not say that all and sundry Tibetans are this type, yet they have been bred as a shelter canines. with a bit of luck you will get one with a stable temperament.

Try www.epupz.co.uk, on this site, you can search for the particular breed you're after, and then you can search for any litters available in your area, or nearby areas.
