Running shoes are fine. The more I walk in Hong Kong, the more energy I get. It is a rushing environment, you will never get tired of it!

Where whatever provides your feet good support and you are comfortable in. If you buy a new pair of shoes/boots, etc. for the trip, break them in before you go. You don't want blisters on your feet when you are on vacation.

It's up to you for what to wear as long as it is comfort for walking. I prefer snacker (sport shoes)...
Well... it will be still so tired after a long way as there is so many to see. (Nothing to do with polluation... It is just I don't used to walk that much when I am in US.)
The foot massage in HK and China are cheap and great. I will recommend to go for it in some hotels, it really help my foot to rest well after a long walk.

If you wear boots in your home town and walk and walk and walk and walk without a problem...
Then walking in Hong Kong makes no difference.
If you walk on the moon, then it may be different.

it is better to wear walking boots when you need to walk a lot and they are good and comfortable - specially made for walking!
