There isn't a more dominant driver/team for the last 5 years in the Cup series. If he holds on in Homestead, there's no way you can count him out in '08. With unquestionably the best crew/crew chief in NASCAR, the most accomplished active driver as a mentor/competitor, HMS mastery of the COT &... oh yeah...pretty decent free agent that will be in the stable next year...This is the perfect storm for the 48 car.

Anything is possible..but i hope Dale Jr keeps him from doing it next yr and Jr gets the championship...I'm sure some of the other teams are going to bust there behinds off in the off season to bring their programs up.. My best friend said its going to Carl or Matt next yr... I'm sure Jimmie is going to win many more championships...Just let Jr have a few as well..

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2008

The odds of three in a row are slim, but if anyone can accomplish this, I believe it would be Johnson. The 48 team is tough to beat, but next year all the races will have the new Cup car and I think many teams will catch up to the Hendrick bunch over the winter, and Toyota will also be hard at work making life tough for its competitors.

Wow, I'm still waiting and hoping for back to back championships. For as consistent as he is I honestly don't see him winning 3 in a row. Not only do you have to be great, you have to have some luck to avoid any problems out of your control. The cars are getting too even and there are too many other awesome drivers and teams to expect 3 championships in a row. CAN he do it, certainly but the odds are stacked against him.

We're not even entirely sure he'll get #2 yet...

Well, as talented as Jimmie is, I have to say no. Gotta pull for Bowyer :D

Jimmy hasn't won number 2, yet. If he has his bad day this Sunday, and Jeff G. lasts the entire race, then Gordon is the champ. In a sport where it isn't over until you cross the start-finish line and see the checker wave, don't automatically assume Jimmy has it in the bag.

I hope not , I want someone else to win the championship next year. Or, else it would get pretty boring.
