I think it holds us back. All political correctness has done is make us use more words. If people look at you funny when using a color of skin to describe someone, its because you (or me, in this case)are too lazy to say "African American" or what not. Its much easier to just say "That black guy." Political correctness makes this world non confrontational, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

I think it holds us all back. When you cannot say exactly what you are thinking, cannot tell anyone the truth for fear of hurting their feelings it makes us weak. Once upon a time Truth was smiled upon. It was acceptable to say things exactly as they were, black and white with minimal grey areas. Now everything is so sugar coated its a wonder we havent all become diabetic from it. While I believe there is something to be said for saying things tactfully we have made dodging the truth an art form. I say we kick the PC bull and start being honest with each other. It might help us understand each other better.

No Comment. anything you say may be used against you some day.
yes the PC BS makes everyone paranoid, that will make everyone more tolerant of minority's, yea right. Now we all have a very real reason to avoid them forever. lest a slip of the tongue should offend someone. and they sue you.
PC is the same as pissing on the first amendment. you know something about free speech. Anyone who would attempt to stifle the right of any American to free speech is a communist.

It is disgusting.
Without 'political correctness' we could still call a spade a spade, a 'psychological disturbance' a foul demon, a black person a *****, a muslim a *******, a homosexual a ******, a sexually active woman a ****** etc, etc.
But seriously, I really do think PC-ness is a ridiculous way to solve rudeness. If it is enforced, it is ludicrous. If someone decides to stop calling someone a n****r of their own free will, then it is a joy.
Whatever happened to people just being respectful?
