Genealogies are traced back to Adam.
Adam is a real person not simply a metaphor.
However the stories have spiritual meanings.

Now there's a loaded question! It all depends. Many Christians (especially southern Baptists I grew up with) tend to believe it is a literal story. I've heard many view points. One major one, is that the apple and snake are sexual metaphors. Eve ultimately tempted Adam with sex. Also, the casting of the two out of Eden is actually symbolizing the separation of God and Man when Man materialized from Heaven/ Paradise/The Other Side/ Home (by man's choice, interestingly).
But yes, whether its metaphor or literal, the story is used to illustrate the necessity of being obediant to God, because doing otherwise will create a separation that neither party prefers.
Have you read about the Jewish tradition of Lillith? That's a very interesting story, too.

To the poster above me that has a problem with talking snakes....If you can believe Genesis1:1, the rest of it is not very hard. A sincere look at the Bible tells us that Genesis 1 is literal, for a few reasons. First and foremost, The New testament writers, refer back to the actual people in their geneologies. I think that we have to either decide that it was a literal event, or that Jesus and His disciples were liars.

Second, If Adam and Eve are Metaphorical, we have to throw out the entire old Testament as not actually happening. Remember, everything in the O.T. starts with Adam and Eve, and are traced down from them.

Thirdly, Once we open the door to the possibility that The Bible is not literal, where do we shut that door? Are we then free to pick and choose which parts that we want to accept, and which parts we don't?

First , you misquote the Bible large time. 2nd, coming up Adam & Eve isn't magic. it truly is a time while guy with technologies would desire to control molecules to create a human physique. of direction the physique would have not any existence. would be only as a sculpture. 2nd, concerning the fruit, whilst we communicate that are components that effect the way we see the international (psychotropic). Why could no longer a fruit be waiting to ascertain them to ask themselves questions approximately what's around them? Hell is only the absence of God. through fact God is the source of each thing it somewhat is sturdy, hell will become a foul place, on the grounds which you do no longer hae what you require. And the area with Noah ark isn't a legend. The DNA strings proves that every physique human beings have a human ancestor around that ingredient. Plus all historic civilisation keep in mind of their writings the flood and place interior the comparable era.And concerning the final question: in basic terms Jesus has a human face through fact he took human physique. the different man or woman do no longer inevitably have a human face, yet can assume one. in fact there's a verse that asserts: no guy can see the face of God and stay.

Lol, It makes an entertaining story, but real, no. Did Noah really fit ALL species of animals onto a wooden boat? Did it also carry all the bacteria and micro-organisms that we now know about today?

Human origin is traced back to Africa and not Adam and Eve. At best it is a methaphor and at worst it is simply damn lies.

Ah...it's a fairy tale. You know, a legend...mythology, a story that people made up to explain where people came from...yes, one of those things. There are lots more from other cultures besides Genesis. Oodles more.
