What shampoo is the best? I have brown hair with blonde streaks and not sure about which shampoo to use for colour lasting. I have been using garnier fructis but a freind told me it was bad for your hair, is that true?
Thanks!

Don't use anything from a drugstore because it is filled with alcohol that causes dryness and damage to your hair. Try Phyto Organics by Nexxus shampoo and conditioner. It has natural products that repair your hair, and no alcohol either. Again, Garnier Fructis is awful because it is loaded with alcohol, don't use it anymore.

Each person will react differently to shampoos and conditioner due to their own body chemical make up. For best results you will have to do the brand testing ( I know its a pain in the butt, but it is the only way that you will find something that actually work for you) I know Pantene Pro-V Blonde Expressions works well for me, as I use it for my own blonde (sometimes coloured) hair. I find also that with your body cycles you may need to switch brands every now and then as you may find that what works great , will all of a sudden leave your hair greasy or dry( depending on how your body changes, when it changes will also vary sometimes every month sometimes not for years)
The link below also has a section you can ask advice.

***You should always keep in mind when asking a salon what they think is best, is they get paid commision on sales of their product, and just because it is in a salon does not make it the best for your hair (I know a person that got her scalp burned by a product they sold her that she had a very severe allergic reaction to!!). They do have some good products at salon but price does not means quality or guaranteed results***

back to basics color care is great, so is biolage color care. if its just basic brown with some highlghts, no real damage, not frizz or flatness, just use color care. you only really need to shampoo once a week. every other hair washing should be just conditioner. conditioner lifts natural ouils and replaces them with conditioning agents, with out stripping your hair. no one should shampoo everyday. NO ONE. i can get 5 days out of a good hair styling. it doesnt look greasy or flat or smell bad, anyone who thinks its dirty is a germophobe. im a stylist. SLS is horrible to hair, and shuoldnt be used lll that often. if tyou think your shampoo is working for your hair, use it. only change if the is an actual issue. silicone is NOT bad for hair. garnier isnt bad for hair, its one of the better drug store brands. I found it faded bright colors, but blonde highlights are blonde highlights. they wont really change all that much. avoid thermasilk and most pantene products. if you want to you can try Tre semme. its available at the same retailers *atleast here*.

Garnier?? No idea but I have color-treated hair also and I use this excellent brand from Korea its called ELASTINE Silk Repair I don't know if you have it in the US but this is a great shampoo because it really brought back the shine in my hair (you know after coloring the hair it becomes dull and frizzy) and it makes the hair so soft and frizz-free plus it smells absolutely great. I suggest you try it.

Nexus is the best, Angela. Price their products at the salon, first, then the grocery store. I recently saw them at the grocery store, and the prices seemed rather high. You only need to wash your hair once a week. You'll love the results!

I always ask whatever hairdresser does my hair what they suggest I use on my hair. They normally will suggest salon products, but you can ask them what products make a similar equilvant that you can by at other stores for cheaper. I buy from the salon because they are better products and the hairdressers explain why the products will work for me- and they do! So i would go with their professional opinions.

there is no one shampoo that is good for everyones hair, because all hair is different you have to choose the best one for your hair type....garnier works fine for me.

Try the one from Loreal, but the one that is for color lasting../color treated hair. I color my hair red and it seems to last longer with this shampoo.. try to wash your hair every other day so that your color stays fresh.. I think what also works for me.. is that I rinse my hair in cold water.. I don't know if it works for brown as much but.. It seems to work for me. :P
