If the Christian god were to be proven to exist I'd become a maltheist.
I see no reason to make excuses for such a being (though when you consider how many people have made excuses for mad dictators on Earth it doesn't become that surprising that people would still worship such a being and even think they are eutheists while doing so).

Whoa!! No god is defined by his actions because if they were the Allah is a dominering jerk who is trying to take over the world, bhudda is a fat lazy pacifist who doesnt care that the world is going to hell, and the jews and christians god is a narcisist who only pays attention to those who pay him attention. Man is evil. Only a human would kill for fun or sexual arousal. Only man preys on its young for pleasure. No other animal on the planet does these things. The biggest thing that you notice with all dieties is that they give man a choice - worship me of your own Free Will. Humans are the dictators. We rule through fear and manipulation. We are the ones that dont give others a choice. Granted the dieties of this world seem to be more than a little disinterested in our plight as a group but perhaps its our own fault. We have gone so long saying "God is Dead" that perhaps our lack of faith has in a way severed our ties with the dieties and made them flip us off for lack of better phrasing. Notice that prior to 1972 and the removal of pray from our schools America was a much more wholesome and good nation. It was only after religion was declared dead and pulled out of the mainstream that things went so far south. Have you considered that diety in its various forms may have been the glue holding this whole world together? Perhaps you should study the various dieties and their religious pathology and reevaluate your stance on things. No god that I know of encourages genocide, homicide, pedophilia, drug use, or any of the other abuses we as humans heap on ourselves. Most of the party lines are peace, love, joy, and happiness. If anything the dieties appear to be hippies with the worlds best interested at heart. I dont think man can say the same thing.

I remember an old song..."God is so good... God is so good... God is so good... He's so good to me." That's only a part of it. People miss qoute God and don't read on about the rest of the stuff! God knows best and when people go astray, they can self-destruct, thus leading to death.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you", says the LORD, "thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."
"I will be found by you," says the LORD, "and I will bring you back from your captivity, I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you," says the LORD, "and I will bring you to the place from which I caused you to be carried away captive." Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NKJV)
'The LORD isn't really being slow about His promise to return, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, but He is giving more time for everyone to repent.' 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT)
'And remember, the LORD is waiting so that people have time to be saved." 2 Peter 3:15 (NLT)

I don't see the actions of a evil dictator. I see the actions of a loving God who has blessed me immensely. I see a God who wants what is good and pure and righteous for me, a God who wants me to have eternal salvation and a place in heaven. He gives me guidance, direction and love.
Daisy Indigo~ A world without evil would be a world w/o free will. People choose to do evil. If we did not have free will then people would not be happy that they could not choose what they wanted to choose to do.

The idea of good and evil are merely human. We have to accept that God and his/her actions are probably beyond the scope of human understanding. These said actions may or may not fall into the categories defined by our understanding of the the superior being. However, there is no reason to believe that God is good or that God is evil. We have to accept God for what he/she symbolizes - our maker to whom we should remain indebted.

Yes,God is good and truly He is but to whom? Psalms 73:1 says that God is good to such as are of a clean heart. . Punishment to evil is just too, Why? Because I know that you would want to get justice to the your wife's acquitted murderer, wouldn't you? God is the only person who could see the hearts and He shall bring every works done under the sun to judgment come judgment day. And that makes Him a Just God.

His actions towards me have been more than good. He continually saves me from myself, everyday. He is like a parent. Sometimes a parent has to punish to teach the child. Is that evil? No. Just inconvenient. For the child.

No you are defining Him by your actions and standards which are not in line at all.
You can't bring God down to your petty thinking.
Judge yourself first.
Were He an evil dictator, you wouldn't be allowed to think like that much less say it out loud. The fact He allows you to choose for yourself proves His love for you.
He doesn't force Himself on you, why are you trying to force Him down, down, down to your level. Rise up to His.

Here are the attributes that I see in God, he is slow to anger, he is full of loving kindness, mercy, grace, gentleness and kindness. He is Awesome and deserves to be praise for all the wonderful things that he does, but not just that but for who he is. I do see that since he is Holy and Holiness calls for justice and justice for punishment that he will indeed judge the wicked, but he still even gives the wicked a chance to change their evil ways and do things the right way ( YES there is a right way) and even when we fall short he is still patient with us and loves us still so you can judge God that way if you want to it is your choice, but just remember he still loves you and is STILL willing to give you more chances. Peace.

First of all, you wouldn't have a definition of "good" and "evil" if God didn't give it to you first. But realize that you wouldn't exist if it weren't for God. Do you really think it is wrong for God to take your life away, when you wouldn't have one to begin with if he didn't give it to you? Would you say the same thing if Bill Gates let you live in his house for a year but then wanted it back?
