Nope...I can't speak of it... but behold and I'll show you.

I remember the unnameable pressure and longing that made itself known long ago. I tried to explain it then, and I couldn't. But it drove me to explore and to read everything I could to clarify what was holding on to me. I particularly remember the atmosphere described by Ray Bradbury in "The Halloween Tree" and the particular Fall wind that blew through me as I read selections from "The October Country" and how there is a spirit to a time, place, frame of mind, a collection of words.
The homemade rituals of niacin overload, branches and dim candles in a dilapidated tub, followed by suggestive readings on the Kahuna of Hawaii...followed by mass destruction. Somehow the rituals were never prescribed, just serendipitous or calamitous, depending on what they invoked. My age of experimentation opened a flow. If I cannot tell of the mystery, perhaps I can show you the riverbank. It can only be found when you're looking for something else or playing the random book grab game in a repository library. No expectations, just open eyes and open mind and a willingness to see whatever is shown, no matter how terrible.
After such experiences, how could I settle for dogma and uncomfortable pews, mealy-mouthed sermons about avoiding temptation? Truth is not in avoidance.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but let me take a shot at this question. Robert Frost said the "secret sits in the middle and knows" and when I am still and quiet, I am one with it. What drives me outward is all the noise and commotion, and I sometimes am drawn toward it, wanting to be like everyone else, but when I go, I only find emptiness. Eventually, I am pulled back in. Lately, I haven't been driven outward as much.

Afraid not. It has some thing to do with the Jungian unconscious making its presence felt, and as such you can no more explain it to an atheist than you can explain colour to someone born blind. God, being the creator of the unconscious , uses it to communicate in a way other than words. Listening with your inner ear is the primary function even of the Bible, in my humble opinion.
Atheists aren't conscious enough, you see?
AURN:
"acceptance takes us inwards"
You right about that bit (and about argument taking us outwards, for that matter.)
COSMICO:
Dogma doesn't necessarily kill the mystery. Only if you forget to use your inner ear.

I suppose the real mystery is that the mystery can only be experienced and not explained.
Although I have noticed that every inward movement has an outer reflection, in really general terms, if you are good to yourself then you will be good to the world around you, if you give yourself a hard time then you will give the world around you a hard time.

A funny feeling this morning, usually I am at ease. Today something is…misplaced. There is turmoil in my life, a lot of sudden and unanticipated change. Ha, I have always said life is avalanche. Teach me to be right!
So, in the tumbling destruction, there is a quiet place, as there is in fear or anger a place of peace within. It is without words; real but undefined, strong but yielding, mysterious but quite natural and simple. It neither drives nor pulls, but compels me strongly.

Faith and Reason are like the shoes on your feet. You can go much further with both, then with one.
Souls are Disk Operating Systems.
Heaven is a better Hardware System!!!
Souls are Operating systems. Both must be saved by their Maker.
Both can be networked together.
Both can be uploaded to a better hardware system and both can have virus programs if not debugged by their Maker. And neither can do all this without the mercy and will of their Programmer.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not as the results of works, that no one should boast. For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand, that we should work in them."

If you could see inside my heart
into my soul and witness my spirit
you would see that I belong to Christ
and His Spirit removes all suffering from this world
with a word of comfort in action
ride with me to a place
where time does not exist
and exist where time is forever present
You can make a home in Our heart
and We shall dwell in yours
through a commitment of intertwining spirits
doing the dance of love right up the pole
to break the horizon and touch heaven
by praising Jesus and perfecting self
in righteousness and Holiness

It is quite simple. Really, even a child can comprehend it. It is family. Beginning, expanding, including, sharing, caring, supporting, extending in a never ending medicine wheel called love. Easily damaged or destroyed yet as resilient as a child's forgiveness.

Dreams. Whether asleep or wide awake.
Pulls me inward when sleepy, and drives me outward to another plane of existence.
