PS3 games for the most part are Region Free and can be played on any PS3.

Blu-ray DVDs are Region Fixed, they can't be played outside of the region.

U.K = Region 2
Australia = Region 4

If you got a PS3 from the U.K then it'll work.

The Gran Turismo 5 bundle isn't really worth it. You'll pay close to $800 plus import costs, where you can just buy the game here for $40 and a 40gb US PS3 ($399) and it'll do the same thing. So here's the run down. PS3 games are region free IF a) Your SD TV accepts PAL & NTSC signals or b) You use HDMI or component cables on a HDTV. MOST Bluray movies are region free, but some are region locked (there's lists online). There's a current work around by pressing Triangle for New Line Cinema movies (it will skip the region check) but Sony could fix this in any FW update so don't depend on it. PS2 [N/A in case of 40gb], DVDs, PS1 games must be from the same region as the console you have. So buy from the States, it'll be cheaper and easier.

1). PS3 games are region free
2). As far as I know Australia/Oceania is a PAL region too
3). Regarding movies and games from previous consoles - check if your PAL region number corresponds with UK's.

dont listen to these guys..... listen to me.... first hand experience of how region coding can screw you over..... i bought an asian version ps3 brought it to the US bought games in the US didn't work why? because of region coding thats why.... had to ship my asian version ps3 all the way back to the philippines where i bought it and had to buy another one.....

so moral lesson.... make sure the games of the UK have the same region code as australia..... dont make the same mistake i did....
