Of course not. Don't let your naivete get the best of you. (Not meant as an insult) When I was a kid, I remember all these people who believed the world was going to end on a certain date in 1982.

People have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years, there are even religions that preach about it (Like Christianity) and then there is just silly superstition, like Y2K.

Don't worry, the world isn't going anywhere. People will be residing on it for a very long time.

EDIT - Here's an idea, next time someone tells you that they believe the world is going to end on a certain date, ask them if they then wouldn't mind signing over all of their money and worldly possessions to you, effective the day after their supposed end of the world date. See how willing they are to believe in such silliness then.

By the way, the calendar on my wall ends on December 30th 2007, does that mean the end is nigh?

People have thrown dates around as to when the world is going to end for literally thousands of years. In the early 19th century people were in such a fit about it that people sold all of their possessions, blew all their money, and crazy stuff like that.

2012 is no different. The only reason that the date has any meaning is because that is apparently when the Mayans stopped their calender. You want to know why?

I'll give you a hint... the Spaniards came and killed them all. And regardless, since when do the Mayans suddenly have the ability to predict the future?

Don't worry about it. I 100% guarantee that the world will not end in 2012... and even if it does... why the sad face? From what I hear, heaven is gnarly.

:o)

No way, if anything the world would end in about another 230 or so years considering natural causes such as polution increasing to the point where we all die of suffication, or in the next 2 year or more years if we go to war.

Technology is good to only some extension, the U.S. alone has enough nuclear bombs to kill everyone in every country and people wonder why we got a 9 trillion dollar debt.

Not only the U.S., but England, Japan, China, Russia each all have almost as much as the U.S. in nukes.

If WW3 pops up we will no doubt all die within 15 minutes of a launch.

~of course this would probably not happen if we can steer clear of reaching that point of desperation in a war.

No, it's only the current astrological age (the age of Pisces, the fish) that is coming to an end. The Date you mention is the prediction for the end of the age according to the Mayan calendar. We are now due to enter the age of Aquarius which will last for the next 2100 or so years. Some say that it has already begun. I wouldn't get too worried about the world ending.

No, I don't believe the world will end on 12/21/2012. The mayan calender ends on that date, not the world :)
Believing that the world will end on a certain date is typical of North Americans and our fear-obsessed culture.

*sighs*

[re-post:]
The Mayan calendar ends on December of 2012. The Mayans predicted we'd be in a transition from 1987 C.E. to 2012 of that month into a new epoch where great changes will occur. (Like a transition of consciousness in humans.)

I don't necessarily believe in this, but the Mayans made several predictions in their time that came true, so perhaps it's worth looking into.

Many people ignore this and think, "Oh. It ends. Must be the end of the world! Let's prepare for our doom!"

Don't listen to them. They don't know what they're talking about.

December 21, 2012 is just the day that the Mayan calendar ends abruptly. They probably ran our of room, or got tired of keeping track of time. No one knows the time of the end. The Angels do not know it, the Son does nor know it, just the Father, Yahweh. However, we must be alert, because Christ is coming as a thief in the night.

While human civilization is facing a number of economic, environmental, and political crises, any of which threaten the survival of our species, there is no credible evidence to believe that the world will end any time soon, much less on such a specific date.

I think its ironic that for all people talk about how stupid the primitive cultures were, how stupid it is to base your beliefs on primitive people's beliefs.... here people are believing in the 2012 prediction. Those same people who calculated 2012 also thought that the sun was fueled by blood from human sacrifices, and if you stopped the sacrifices the sun would die.

That's the day when the Mayan calender guy ran out of fingers to count so he could not continue the calender any further. Another theory is he went out to use the restroom and never came back
before he finished it. Stop worrying "Jesus loves you"

God loves you.....god bless
