My brother used to get severe heart palpatations.
It would make him very ill.
The medication proscribed for him to take to stop the palpatations took 20 minutes to work.
While waiting for it to work he would be vomiting and very very stressed.
But if he smoked a pipe of pot the results would be almost immediate. His heart would slow to normal.
If he was having a bad attack, he would have to get Mum to pack his pipe.
We campaigned hard to make it legal for him to have it as medication, but didn't do any good.
I also know of one old lady, in her 70's, suffering from cancer. Like my brother she used to grow her own. Smoking it helped make her pain meds work better.
So it does have it's medicinal uses.

If this is for a school research paper, then I would recommend searching for medical studies that have been done and anonymous postings of personal drug experiences. At the risk of incriminating myself too much, I will simply say that erowid.org is a detailed resource for information regarding the science behind various substances, including cannabis. It also contains people's firsthand experiences.
One point of clarity, I would recommend that you change your statement to say that cannabis is useful to cancer patients - not only is there no connection between cannabis and curing cancer, but no real cures for cancer exist at all yet. Research has been done into ways that cannabis improves symptoms of people with cancer and undergoing cancer treatment (radiation therapy and chemotherapy both have numerous side-effects).

Cannabis doesn't cure cancer (only makes you not feel so bad during treatment and encourages you to eat more).
It doesn't improve music, arts and creativity (the user only thinks it does - sort of like thinking you can drive when you're high ) Being high makes for some not so good decisions, so what sounds good to you when you're high doesn't sound so good when you're not.
Cannabis is HIGHLY addictive. Just ask anyone at an MA meeting.
