A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Evangelism is strong in a lot of Christianity. It's down to their beliefs - they feel that unless people hear the good news and accept JC, they could end up in hell forever. Not just Jehovas Witnesses who believe this.
skylolo - you must believe what I believe or else you will suffer. aka it is obnoxious

Christians get accused for wanting to convert everyone to their religion because they want to increase its followers. They go door to door trying to spread out their religion by giving financial assistant and brainmashing.
They want a high growth rate as compared to other religion.

Mormons also sometimes go door to door, maybe not as much as Jehovah's Witnesses do. Most Christians don't do this. Sometimes when Christians share their experiences along with Bible passages people lump this together with trying to convert people. Sometimes they try to convert intentionally, but sometimes they're just sharing their experiences when asked about it.

Honestly? Christianity is the only religion I have ever really seen pressed on people. Especially in America. It's on our T.V.'s our radio stations, schools completly dedicated to teaching the bible. I've found that if your born into a religious family, involved in all the church activities and such your never really given a chance to believe in something else..Other religions don't necessarily need all the propaganda that we as americans feel as a must. You don't see hindu's handing out flyers or going door to preaching do you? Christians do press christianity on people..either intentionally or unintentionally...

Many sincere and faithful people have been taken advantaged of by the Watchtower's teaching. It even changes the bible text to suit their doctrines. these people are the scapegoats, so instead of being hostile to them when they visit your home,we should pray for them that one day they will find the truth for if the blind leading the blind they will both fall into the ditch. For as in the bible Jesus says: there is only one teacher(that is Jesus),and you are all brethron. so Let's show each other brotherly love. Amen.

Have you read a history book lately? They are accused of wanting to convert because they have been trying to convert people for a long long time, often through killing, torture, and domination.
And they're still fighting it over all around the world

My Dear Freak Atheist,
There is nothing in the world with out anything, I mean with out meaning.
Any thing and any one does some thing it should be with a meaning.
'Witness' demands your hearing power seeing power.
Jehovah's' witnesses, means what?
'Convert' I see that there is no Universe without conversion.
Sun shine reaches us with drastic conversions. your break past Takes drastic conversions in your stomach to be ready for lunch
