First of all, I am not trying to talk you out of this. But have you fully consider why you want to join the navy (or any military branch)?

(I was in the USAF years ago). Basic Training for AF was quite easy physically. The TI yelled at a lot of us and some guys broke down and cried (that really shocked me to see considering our TIs were women).

You are expected to feel nervous when you are "shipped" to basic training. They will try to weed you out (if you can't follow simple directions, for example, making the bed). They figure if you can't follow these steps, or work together, you won't be able to do that on a ship.

All our medications were taken away on the first day, but of course, we were looked after if we were sick. It's not a prison, you know.

How many people per shower? If you have problem getting naked in front of other (girls), you shouldn't join the Navy. We were taking shower together and honestly we were too frightened at first to care. After a few days, everything was fine. So you see other (girls) naked--not really an earth shattering problem.

I remember one thing--if you wear glasses, they take them away and issue the "birth control glasses". They were so ugly, they worked better than birth control (pills). I am not kidding about this. But then again, you would look and act like everyone else--and that was the point. You live together--you work together and a team. If you can't do that, they send you home.

The boys (us) had to shave every morning--no exception. (They actually shaved our heads the first day--yeah, we were bald.) We were one of the very few co-ed "flight" (half of our group were girls) and yes, they said they shaved.

No makeup though was allowed. All the girls looked alike to us. We enjoyed their company, but nothing like that ever happened, so don't even think it.

Hope this helps. This was many years ago but I am sure nowadays you can bring your IPOD with you (etc). We didn't even have a cell phone then.

you must be able to pass basic language skills. if you cannot, than you cannot enlist. all official business is conducted in both written and spoken English. You must be fluent enough to understand the instructions.

You don't get any time off for that time of the month. you may NOT bring any meds with you, anything you require must be dispensed by the Navy. You will not have time to shave the legs, and maybe not even the pits.

Plenty of P.T. and K.P as well.
What do you mean when you refer to "special days?"
Do you mean your menstrual period? If that's what you mean, then say so instead of using cutesy terms.
Of course you are allowed to shave, why would you think otherwise?
I think you should be asking the recruiters for more information about what's expected of new recruits.
You may not even have the education level required to enlist.
