It looks like a bad wager for the insurance company. Maybe they should increase the deductibles.

The Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company has been insuring Churches for over 90 years. It was started by a Mennonite businessman and his pastor. They never dreamed that the firm would grow to its present size. It is listed in the National Underwriters Magazine as one of the top 50 casualty underwriters in the USA.

Their original goal was to provide security for Mennonite fellowships. The Mennonite movement has changed its name and is known as The Fellowship of Evangelical Churches today. They started out getting the different churches to pool their money for an disaster experienced by the different churches. Today they are licensed in 29 states and have assets of over 293 million dollars.

I would say that their relationship with Christianity is good. They primarily insure Churches. Churches are made up of people, and people are known to make mistakes. Having a Christian Insurance company on your side has to be a real plus for any Christian Church.

Their experience with reports on sex abuse from the Churches you mentioned, is dwarfed by recent claims and payments made by a certain other Christian denomination.
