I am 8wks pregnant. I work in hospital so had one of my dr's put in an order for a HCG test for me. On 28 oct my levels were 4488. than today I did another just to see and it was only 5522. I did a ultrasound last monday and saw a HB, fetal pole and yalk sac. The dr's didn't say anything looked wrong, but I do have another US tomorrow. Has anyone else ever had low HCG levels like this and go on to have a healthy pregnancy?

I just wanted to let anyone else who may have his same question know. I had a ultrasound this morning and I have a healthy little gummy bear. My Dr told me not to worry about HCG levels because even at 8weeks they may have already hit max and started to decline. So for those of you who wory like I do take a deep breath and try to relax.

HCG levels peak at about eight to 10 weeks of pregnancy and then decline, remaining at lower levels for the rest of the pregnancy. Here is a sample listing of expected HCG levels based on time after conception:

* 0-1 week: 0-50 mIU/ml
* 1-2 weeks: 40-300 mIU/ml
* 3-4 weeks: 500-6,000 mIU/ml
* 1-2 months: 5,000-200,000 mIU/ml
* 2-3 months: 10,000-100,000 mIU/ml
* 2nd trimester: 3,000-50,000 mIU/ml
* 3rd trimester: 1,000-50,000 mIU/ml
* Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml

Child, I had my kids so many years ago, I doubt they even checked hormone levels, then. If they did, I certainly didn't know anything about them, being young and dumber than a post. However, please go to this website and read the information there. I think you will have a better understanding from it. Best of luck to you with your pregnancy.
