The only truck on a military installation is the ball on the top of the flag pole.
1. One 45 caliber round
2. The last orders of the post/base/installation./kaserne
3. A match

There is no razor blade or 9mm round,
the orders are to defend the flag with the last bit of ammunition available and never surrender the Flag, you are ordered to burn it,
rather than see it defiled in the hands of the enemy.
This is not a myth, this is tradition and ceremony anyone who has ever served knows their kind of big on this sort of thing.
I have dismantled several Kasernes in Europa and have been responsible for cutting up the flagpole (we use a plasma cutter to chop up the poles into bite size pieces)

An "installation" can range from an urban military police post with one vehicle to a major military base with attached airport or sea port, headquarters for larger units and for units scattered off the base and several dozen medium units.
A "truck" can range from a pickup truck through a 2.5 ton utility carrier to many more specialized vehicles built on truck chassis. And these days one has to ask if a humvee is a truck or a big jeep.
Usually a unit has enough trucks to carry all of its personnel plus any specialized trucks for its mission (radar, control, etc.) and each will be towing a trailer with gear. A company of 120 men would probably have 10-12 trucks.

Only civilian vehicles can be classified as trucks. Military calls everything by the name or weight. Like 5 ton cargo carrier or Humvee or Deuce and a half(2 1/2 ton, etc. AmI right? I think also that's what they call the ball on the top of the flag pole at Core HQ. There is a secret surprise inside it!

WOW!! more urban myth flagpole stories!!!

So as the enemy are taking over the installation we dig the razor blade out of the "truck" to cut down the flag*, we then take the single match** and burn the flag, to prevent its capture, and after this we take the gun / pistol / revolver and commit suicide before the enemy can capture us***!!

* much easier to undo the rope and lower the flag the normal way.

** hopefully the enemy choose to attack on a dry day!!

*** why bother? suicide is not the western way.

And hopefully the enemy wait long enough for the guy at the flag pole to carry out this little ceremony before shooting him.

Would it not have been more easier to place a demolition charge under the flag-pole and establish a self-destruct button at the base of the pole??????

Urban Myth believers, one born every minute.
