Julian, in San Diego County, is not a ghost town. However, it is an historic mining town. Every year around Christmas, they decorate the town and victorian dressed carolers stroll the downtown area singing.

The town is known for its apple pie and there are a number of wineries in and around the town as well. Some of the building are suppose to be haunted. It's a nice drive off of Hwy. 15 and and fun day trip.

Calico is a registered California historic monument, and is one of a number of ghost towns in California (other examples are Drawbridge and Bodie in Northern California). It is the "official state silver rush ghost town" of California.

Calico that has been developed into a tourist thing. But Merryville near Newhall used to be a small oil community. there are a lot of small little towns that were part of the oil industry or a stage coach route that have been absorbed into larger suburbs. Little communities like Cornell Corners in Malibu Hills. Atwood and Olive are small communities in Orange County that were absorbed by the big city.

BLM STRONGLY discourages human beings from exploring previous deserted mines interior the desert, that's why i'm no longer offering a link. you would be greatly surprised how many human beings have DIED only exporing around. those mines are volatile. pass look on the Calico Ghost city and Mine close to Victorville. it truly is secure, and you will no longer die.
