Look, heres the thing, What the packet says to feed, is a guide line only, If your puppy is quite active, shes going to need more that a puppy that is not active.
To see if your dog is the correct weight here are 2 ways to tell,
1. your should be able to run your finger along the pups side firmly and just feel the rib cage.
2. if you stand bove your pup, with him between your legs, you should be able to look down and just see where her rib cage ends and tapers in slighty to the gut area, this is the dogs waist.
If you are really concerned, ask your vet when she has her next needles.
You dont want her to fat as she is a large breed, you dont want to put any undue presure on her joints.
Good Luck with her, I have 2 Rottie and I love them to bits!

Honestly I wouldnt worry right now. She is a puppy and will burn of most of what she eats while playing all day long. I would just feed her what she wants pretty much, aslong as you dont drasticly over feed her and make her obeese. When she is older it will be easier to figure out exactly how to feed her with what amounts and such.
My vet says to feed my dog only 2 cups a day. To me that is crazy as he is over 60lbs, so I feed him 3 (somtimes 3.5) cups a day and he does fine, along with some treats. Remember what they say is only a guide and not a 100% right or wrong.

! cup for the whole day altogether! Puppies eat more than adults especially large breed puppies. My pup who's a Korean Jindo eats 3.5 cups a day (good shape) and he's about 17 weeks. Rottie pups should eat at least 1.5-2 cups at 10 weeks. Hope this helps. + puppies eat 3 times a day

What you're doing sounds fine to me. I have a 10 wk old Rottie puppy and I feed her 3x daily....about a cup each feeding, except at night a little less.
Good luck!

My vet told me to feed our lab three times a day. Some people don't believe in it but I always keep food in my animals bowls. They do not overeat.

That should be fine, but be careful, hopefully your feeding her a large breed puppy chow, it's lower in calories, especially for Rotti's -growth too fast in that breed can lead to many health problems, hip displacia, bone and joint problems. Today at my job, we did a total hip replacement on a 3 yr. old Rotti. Diagnosis was degenerative, and rapid growth.. Purina One, Large Breed Puppy Chow, 20 lbs for 14.00 excellent nutrients.

at this age she should be getting at least 3 meals a day. I don't know how much she weighs but 1/2 cup twice a day is no where near enough.
she should also get a small snack at night to keep her glucose levels up during the night
it is widely suggested that large & giant breed dogs are put on adult food right away.

if her stomach looks extremely bulging when she is done eating, then yes, it's too much, if she doesn't look bloated, she should be ok. how much food depends on each individual animal. she will grow as big or little as her genetics will allow her(barring starvation). if your not sure, when you take her in for her booster shots, ask you vet. hope this helps :-)
