Yes, the great majority of troops serving there can see the positive difference they are making in the lives of the Iraqi people. It is meaningful.

Many don't. Many know they are tools of the US government. Check out the Iraq Veterans against the war website at www.ivaw.org The US government does not care about soldiers. The attack on Iraq has turned most of the world further against the US. The US has now murdered more civilians in Iraq than Al Qaeda did on September 11.

Explain to me how asking "DO our soldiers in Iraq believe they are fighting a meaning full war?" is not a "war opinion question", please.

To answer your odd question, yes. Also, the word is meaningful.

You are always going to get both sides with a question like this... one person can not answer for every soldier, marine, airman, and seaman...

I think some DO think they are doing good there... and they are probably right.

But I think alot of our men and women go back and fight for one reason, our brothers in arms. I would gladly go fight this war, not because I believe in the cause, but because I dont believe in leaving one person behind. The fact is, there IS a war going on and we are going to have to go, like it or not, so if I can be there to watch someone elses back and possibly keep one of my men (or women) from being another casuality and keep one family from being destroyed... I will be there JUST for that reason.

What an idiotic and simplistic question.... And to the various, many Iraq vets and previous generals who communicate out against coverage what do you say to those squaddies? Why do no longer they pay attention to themselves? Oh wait, they do, so why do they pay attention to the squaddies? Wait.... Oh, i comprehend, they are actually not actual squaddies, the actual ones are people who say what you already desperate you opt for for to hearken to. What do you think of is greater demoralizing to the troops, getting sent right into a good sized clusterf--- of a multitude with out the spectacular kit and with out coherent plan, or somebody pointing out the obtrusive? it somewhat is only like the backwards thinking that supporter of the conflict have continually observed - the torture isn't the undesirable element, it truly is somebody pointing out the torture it somewhat is the subject. The dying and mayhem isn't the subject, it truly is the media reporting on it it somewhat is undesirable. Sorry if the fact of conflict is inconvenient. in case you opt for for fake conflict, hire a DVD.

Actually, by asking this question, I doubt that you have served in the military.

Soldiers and sailors and airmen sign up to do a job, for different reasons. The military removes the individual's right to free expression, and builds them up to be team players, serving a greater purpose.

Soldiers follow orders. While some may complain, or make the news for this or that, most go and do the duty asked of them, with no opinion one way or another.

When I was in the Navy, and we were told that our submarine was leaving port, you just don't ask questions, or form opinions about this or that.

Okay I don't know if I'll catch flak from other vets for my answer but I'll give you my opinion. I went to Iraq, and I DIDN'T believe in what I was fighting for, actually I more just didn't know WHAT I was fighting for. Did I do it? Yeah. It's my job and I signed up for it. Did I like it? Hell no. I saw opinions that ranged from more hostile to mine to far more positive. I did what I could do to do my job, make sure I the people I was with weren't hurt to the utmost of my ability and come home.Thats it...

yes. thats why they are fighting. would you be willing to die for something you didnt believe in? what does that say? the people who are OVER THERE and know whats going on, still would fight to the death in defence.

I have spoken with alot of people from the army, they all mainly say the same thing, they would have done it this way or that way and say how many things they have done that resulted in good, but were never aired on tv.

I think they fight because that's what they're told to do. No army needs a thinking soldier. The military is a tool that politicians use to enforce policy, and that's about it. Sometimes that policy is sound, and other times it's not. So the bottom line is, it really doesn't matter what the guys on the ground think.

Having said that though, it's important that we make sure our elected officials aren't getting our guys involved in a bunch of nonsense just to line their own pockets.
