can you change a file's type once it's already been chosen or made?

i want to know if you can do this because i recently changed a file that should of been an flv. to a dvd. file and know i can't change it back

Yes. You're probably using Windows and by default Windows does not show file extensions. You need to go into Windows Explorer...Tools Menu...Options... One of the tabs has a list of options... uncheck "Hide extension" or something to that effect.

i would just make an extra copy so in ase you cant change it back you still have it
