They come out of the birth canal, just like everywhere else.

Seriously, though, you can find your answer by typing into the yahoo search engine the following words: irish birthing practices

Also try: irish family structure
and: irish family hierarchy

If you mean naming practices, traditionally the Irish followed a naming pattern:

The first son was named after the father's father (and so did the Scots).
The 2nd son was named after the mother's father (and so did the Scots).
The 3rd son was named after the father (and so did the Scots).
The 4th son was named after the father's eldest brother.
The 5th son was named after the mother's eldest brother.
(Subsequent Scottish sons were named after various uncles, cousins, and whomever.)

The 1st daughter was named after the mother's mother (and so did the Scots).
The 2nd daughter was named after the father's mother (and so did the Scots).
The 3rd daughter was named after the mother (and so did the Scots).
The 4th daughter was named after the mother's eldest sister.
The 5th daughter was named after the father's eldest sister.
(Subsequent Scottish daughters were named after aunts, cousins, and whomever.)

These patterns with some variations sometimes even held out for several generations after the families had immigrated to the United States or Canada. For example, my dad, who is the third son, was named after his father. These naming patterns also make it relatively easy to trace family relationships, but they don't allow for much inventiveness.

In Canada, at least, the Irish passed the inheritance to the oldest son. A maternal great-grandfather immigrated from Ontario, Canada, to the United States because an older brother inherited the family farm.
