Well, my denstist was willing to put on my permanent crown, however i lost my insurance when my company close, so right now i dont have any insurance. Will there be any chance that my abscess would came back if i keep my temporary crown for a while until i can afford to get my permanent crown. It just really bother me since i know im supposed to get my permanent crowns. To avoid having the abscess come back.

Was the impression for the perm crown done prior to your insurance loss? If so, then the claim can be sent in... the insurance companies go by the date of the final impression, not by the date of the crown insertion.

Temporary crowns are just that... temporary. They are placed on while the permanent crown is being made.

I have no enamel on my teeth due to a genetic disorder and I have had MANY a temporary crown. I have had them on for months and months, and the worst thing that's happened is them falling off. I just push the crown back on and then call my dentist so that he can re-glue it or put the permanent one on.. If you're careful what you eat (nothing gooey or sticky) then this shouldn't happen to you.

A temporary crown is designed just to protect the root-canaled tooth until a permanent crown can be made that is matched to the complementary teeth that mesh with it.

i had a root canal done as well. the only reason i got a temporary crown was because they worked on my tooth for one more day. then we had to wait for my porcelain molar mold to be delivered to my dentist.

MAY,

THIS TEMPORARY IS ONLY THERE UNTIL THE PERMANENT ONE IS MADE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE THE PROPER POSITION OF THE TOOTH IS MAINTAINED BECAUSE W/O IT THE TOOTH WILL SHIFT AND POTENTIALLY HAVE A FRACTURE.
