also those violent verses in the Bible, you are taking them out of context, if you read the Bible the Old Testemant laws were to show the Jews how little we could do to be right with God, but the New Testemant comes along and shows that with Jesus, He's the only thing that matters and all the rituals of the Old are obsolete because we have Jesus, also a lot of those verses are metaphorical too. And to answer your question, I think most Christians aside from the crazy nuts that are apart of basically all religions would oppose a theocracy like that. If you look at history, theocracies almost never work, look at medieval europe, constant war with corrupt Church leaders with people blindly following them. Also Iran and Saudi Arabia, there's basically a suppression of a whole bunch of rights there

I don`t see this ever happening. We would have to change the constitution of the United States. Which is theoretically possible I suppose since we can amend the Constitution. Changing the Constitution to the point where the United States becomes a Theocracy is highly unlikely.
Why do people say this?

Actually, my dear ((Slave))) the Bible has prophecised the end of religion (or false religions). You know that Harlot, Babylon the Great that is riding atop a beast with eight horns? No, not your mother in law, I mean the other Harlot found in Revelations! Gee, some people... Anyway, the Beast (representin governments (G8) ) turns upon the Harlot (religion) and devours her. This will be the start of the Great Tribulation (as stated in Revelations). It is an interesting read. Babylon (zee Harlot) has already fallen (meaning that she doesn't have the power over the Beast as she once had) and all that remains to be done is eat her up with plenty of barbeque sauce...preferably. Kisses!

Never. Never ever ever. You can't put 50 people in a room who can agree on their favorite pizza toppings, let alone 300 million people who will all pledge allegiance to the same invisible deity who speaks through a President that we're only going to replace in either 4 or 8 years anyway.

I'm sorry but... NEVER.
It's practically a crime to say a prayer in school and you can't even put a manger scene in your front yard for chrtistmas without someone suing you. Just compare the influence of christianity now compared to 50 or sixty years ago. It was OBVIOUSLY more prevalent back then. Since that time we have clearly moved in the opposite direction of theocracy.
I think your fears are misplaced.

Seriously? You give way too much credit to the religious out there.
How long until it becomes a secular socialist state .... better odds.

It won't happen. Despite the assertion of various groups, the US is too much of a plurality.

Never. I don't speak for all atheists, but for me and the ones I know - we've got the Second Amendment and we're not afraid to use it.

Many, many Christians would fight against that ever happening. The right to freely worship ( or not ) should extend to all.
