A clove bitten. Red Cross tooth ache drops are basically clove oil. You can get the kit from an all night pharmacy or grocery store. It comes with little cotton pellets. Dip in clove oil put on tooth and bite down keep there as long as possible before you have to spit it out. It will numb your mouth and the tooth. You can use a clove and bite down on it but more hassle and not as effective.
This should get you by until you can get to a dentist, I've used it in the past and it works for an emergency fix to get you through.

Didn't you see "Marathon Man" where the evil dentist eases up on the torture by applying oil of cloves? It actually works and is called Eugenol when you buy it in the pharmacy. However, too much use can kill the nerve you are trying to calm down so it is temporary use only.

If you are not a young child then I would suggest an aspirin whole put on top of the tooth until it dissolves. Also find out why the tooth is hurting. You could need to see a dentist

Whole cloves..................gently place the whole clove (found in the spice section of any market) on or near the tooth (or teeth, as the oil from the clove will tend to spread). Gently hold it there, and you will notice relief within minutes.
This remedy is older than I am, and it's as reliable as they come.
p.s. Also cheap!
p.s.s. And no chemicals, etc. Totally organic!!
