I have had a bottle of unopened hot sauce in my fridge for maybe the past 6-10 months. Would it still be good?

Does Hot Sauce Go Bad

Eventually it would go a little off, but there are so many spices and acid's in the mix, it'd take a long time to do that. I have hot sauces that sit in the cupboard well over a year and still good. It's like they say - better with age! lol.

If it has a winter coat on it, I would then advise you not to ingest. Never know though. Could be psychedelic mold!

Yes, but it is hard to tell by smell. The best test I have found is to carefully look at the bottom of the lid when you open it and see if there is any mold or fuzzy growth there. If so throw it out. Usually you will find a small dot of mold on the lid before you notice any change in the sauce's appearance or smell.

Hot sauce and "hot" food in general contains substances, mainly capsaicin, that trigger pain receptors in your mouth. In moderation I guess this does no harm. This is what makes the food seem "hot". The only problem I find is that this also generates a "hot" sensation on the way out too. If you get the hot sauce on your fingers and rub your eyes, scratch your intimate parts, well, it can get a bit uncomfortable. I find that I must be careful to remove the little dried peppers you find in kung pao chicken. I attempted to consume one once. I just about coughed up a lung as a result.

Yes, the hot sauce is more better when it takes longer except if theres is white or some color on the side of hot sauce it means time to throw.

No. But if it's been hanging around for over a year it might be good to switch it out.
