She had not had sexual intercourse with a man at the time she married Joseph or even at the time Jesus was born. All of the churches are in agreement over this, although there is contention over whether she remained a virgin after Jesus' birth. One thing to note, the word used in Hebrew and Aramaic to describe Mary means young woman, but does not necessarily mean that she has never had sexual intercourse.

Mary got pregnant before she married Joseph, so at the time of her pregnancy she was a virgin. Once she got pregnant, Joseph married her as it was inappropriate for an unwed woman to have a baby at their time. So I'm not sure if she remained a virgin after Jesus was born or not, but the important thing was that she was when she "conceived" Jesus.

We Really dont know if she is a "virgin" for fact. If you read the bible carefully when jesus is born it says "the virgin gave birth to a male child" It REFERS to Mary as "the virgin" . It doesnt nesecarily mean it in the "physical" sense. There are two ways a woman can be a "virgin". Perhaps she had a Very Pure Mind?? --- Sex is NOT dirty. Pornography IS. "Jesus" would NOT have become Part "man" in the first place if it was.

Mary was always a virgin. God chose her to be Jesus's mother. He sent the angel Gabriel to tell her that God wanted her to be the mother of Jesus and that the Holy Spirit was with her. Mary married Joseph afterward. At first, Joseph didn't want to marry her, but after God sent him a dream saying that he needed to marry her. He did. Marriage and virginity are two different things. She was only married to Joseph. Joseph was Jesus's stepfather.

She never exactly "married" Joseph. It was just not right for an unmarried woman to stay like that in those days so Joseph looked after her (Joseph was 70, Mary was 15). They never had it.

definite, Mary had different toddlers interior the conventional, classic way. Matthew 13:fifty 5, fifty six says "is that this no longer the chippie’s son? isn't his mom talked approximately as Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And his sisters, are they no longer all with us?"

Damn! Listen, I'm Pope Benedict using a false name and a picture I swiped off of "The World's 14 most devilishly handsome Men". You raise a VERY interesting point! I never thought of that!
I'll abolish the Catholic Church tomorrow, and we'll all become Buddhists.
Thank you for your question.
