Wayne, PNG was never an Australian territory, it was a protectorate. We assisted them after WWII, until they decided to go it alone. We never owned them, we were just a helping hand when they needed it.

I agree with Diane, we could work in partnership with them if they are agreeable, but what you are suggesting is nothing less than invasion and empire building. That I do not agree with.

Reclaim??

since when did Australia OWN New Guinea and Indonesia ??

Australia might have indeed administered P.N.G but it never owned it.

By using your definition then the U.K. would be entitled to look for Australia back to guarantee its economic prosperity seeing it once owned Australia.

"Indonesia can lump it or leave it," how easily you dismiss the sovereign rights of other countries to their own territory, you were born in the wrong age, o mini colonial troll!

don't underestimate Indonesia, a conflict with them would cost Australia dearly, and the rewards would not be worth the finical loss or the massive loss of life. its not like we are running low on natural resources, we have the most coal and uranium in the world. not to mention we do have off shore oil platforms as well. so why would we? they have more to gain of us then we do of them. they are there own nation.

Wouldn't it be better to just partner with them and then both countries would benefit.
