It sounds like acid reflux, or GERD. My daughter had this mysterious symptom for a while. I thought it was strange her stomach would hurt or burn when empty. But that is common with acid reflux, and the doc put her on Prilosec and Zantac, both available over the counter, and it is under control now.

Maybe you can ask him to not be so rude! Just because he cant sleep doesn't mean you cant! Is it really necessary for him to use a blow dryer in the middle of the night? I'm assuming you don't live in a studio and there are other rooms that he can be in. If he needs time to adjust and you are having to work while this happens remind him that you have to get some sleep to do your job to pay the bills because his check is short!

well, it could be anything really. it could be heartburn. i have this problem sometimes too. if i eat close to bed time my stomach burns when i get up because i'm hungry. it's weird, but it happens.
