People in older civilizations tried to rationalize things any way they knew how.
Since there was no explanation at the time for certain things (the sun, hurricanes, etc); they invented Gods.
Some people in current badly-educations societies still cling to this mentality.

I am unsure of where you are at in your life, your walk with Christ, or for that matter who you are. I am a 21 year old Christian who has Faith like a child. I don't question the Bible and I don't quite question why not have Faith. Every night I go to bed I have faith that the sun will rise the next day. I don't know that it will happen but I have faith that this amazing thing does happen. I have no good reason to believe that the sun should rise tomorrow but I do believe it will happen. I feel kind of the same with my Faith in Christ. I don't really know if he will answer my prayers, but I have faith that he does and if you listen and I read my Bible and pay attention, he truly does answer my prayers. I hope this helps you and I will be praying for you and for your Faith as well
Love you from one brother in Christ to another

Explore. Read. Find books that address the issues you are having. Just flying by your feelings is worthless, for or against God.
Hebrews 11:1 says "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see." Basically faith is knowing who God is and what he stands for and believing that he will act on what he says.
I think there is evidence to believe that God is powerful and trust worthy. Read Isaiah 53 and Psalms 22 and ask yourself how these passages were written +500 years before Christ existed and how they describe him.
There are plenty more things to read, but do your self a favor and actually look for answers if you are struggling, not just giving up.

Faith is kind of like a fear thing. To the non believer the fear of them going to Hell for not believing sometimes turns them around into having faith and believing. To the believer having faith in God is like saying I believe and have faith, I have nothing to loose. If you are struggling with your Christian faith then you need to pray to God and let him know this. He is the only one that can help you pray that the Holy Spirit can guide you and do this daily. If you truly want to have faith you will receive it God will not let you go if he knows you want to believe!!!! May God Bless You!!!!!

It is through worship that faith can be understood. Only when we immerse ourselves in prayer and worship can we understand the power of God. Of course, this requires a "leap of faith." The only question I have is what can you know 100%? I think certainty is a myth as well. (although I do place my trust in the theory of evolution as well). You just choose to put your trust in somethings more than others. The Psalms are full of prayers where the author is frustrated with God because the author cannot experience God at times and thinks that God is lazy. I think this is a normal human experience, but the psalmist chooses in the end to still trust that he will experience God someday based on the previous testimony about God.
"I wait for you O LORD; I lift up my heart to my God. In you I trust, do not let me be disgraced" Psalm 25
Where do you choose to put your trust?

That is a question that is really un-answerable, except in one way. Faith is different for everyone. Some people find a reason to believe, some don't. I can't give you a reason to believe. For a while I was bordering on Atheism then I found a reason to believe. Its something that I can not really describe to others, but its a feeling that someone is there when no one is actually there. Could it be all in my head? Yes, but then again, it happens at the oddest times and has saved me in multiple situations. I probably am not making any sense anymore, but that is religion, it makes no sense to everyone else, but yourself

Here are some of the reasons:
Emotional predisposition
Childhood indoctrination
Wishful thinking
Do religions really offer evidence that they are correct, and that all of their ideologies about gods, devils, saints, angels, and afterlives are true and apply to every human being, regardless of whether or not they wish to believe in it?
Or do religions simply assume their views are correct because they are derived from very old beliefs and they are raised in childhood or cultural circles to accept those beliefs on "faith?"

Romans 10 says that Faith comes by hearing the word of God..Are you reading your bible? Are you going to church and having fellowship with others? If you don't like the church you went too,,maybe you need to find another....Have you repented from your sins, turned away from the bad things you use to do,,,,have you been baptised in the name of Jesus? Have you ask God to send you the Holy Spirit to guide you?
Read your bible,,,let it speak to you...seek out others of faith....pray for God's help.....faith will come.....we all gain more and more faith,,,,the more we understand.....study your bible...a good start for you....Look up all scripture that has to do with faith....you can do that online..here's a start for you. click on the link

the only experience i've had is when I was young the faith took for a while due to brainwashing or constant mental coercion by trusted adults . I didn't loose my mind and with the help of discussion I regained my sense of sanity.
It's hard to explain the effort it takes to overcome the deceit infused upon one as a youth even later in life .

Why would you want to "gain" faith in your deity?
You should research and read the Bible. Reading the Bible is the best way to lose faith and know what you're actually dealing with. Then you can decide, good luck!
