Bummer about the timing, but there is never a "great" time for that kind of stuff. You'll be in pain and uncomfortable for a week at least. Plan on bed/couch resting for at least 3-4 days, which may sound like a lot for but you will need and want to sleep as much as possible.
IMPORTANT: As soon as you get home take your pain meds! DON'T FORGET! If you wait until the pain comes it will be too late! Also, apply ice packs immediately to reduce and prevent some swelling. THE SOONER THE BETTER or you'll have a giant face for days.
Before your surgery make sure to stock up on have soft foods like yogurt, jello, soup...anything that doesn't require chewing. Even though the wisdoms are in the back you won't be able to chew anything with the rest of your teeth because your whole mouth will be very sore.
Don't drink through a straw or suck anything AT ALL. I have heard of something called socket-jaw. I guess it's when people suck food out from the gum cavities then the bone is exposed to air---apparently its excruciating pain.
All-in-all it's worth it in the end.
Good luck!

i had all four of mine removed as well...and because they were small and fully exposed out of my gums, i didn't need stitches, nor did I even need to take the pain meds. I ate very soft food like ravioli for dinner that evening. It was a bit tender on the sore spot left by the the teeth, but nothing major. i was fine a few days later.
be sure that you gargle with warm salt water. use the little syringe thingy to keep the areas clean. if after three or four days, if the pain has not gone away and persists, you might have dry socket. which you will need to see a doctor for.

A little pain (get some drugs) a lot of liquids, and for your sake don't smoke. Follow all of the instructions given by the dentist. You DO NOT WANT DRY SOCKETS. They will pull out the gauze and you will feel the most pain you have ever felt. Otherwise don't stress. You will be sore for a few days and you will cry out for solid foods but this too shall pass. Merry Christmas!

you are actually doing pretty good considering it was only two days ago. I recently had all four of mine removed and I was in bed for a week. My Dr. told me to put warm compresses on my cheeks though (not cold) to reduce the swelling and to rinse with warm salt and water. It seemed to have worked.

Haha, I'm getting mine taken out the day before you. Tis the season? From what I've been hearing form my oral surgeon, we should be able to cautiously enjoy Xmas dinner. Good luck to you....
