Children ages 10 to 12 need a little over 9 hours of shuteye a night. But it's up to parents to judge the exact amount of rest their children need and see that they're in bed in time for sufficient sleep.

She needs enough sleep so that she's not tired and cranky during the day, is able to focus well on her schoolwork, and has enough energy to participate in some sort of physical activity.

For most 10 year olds, that's probably about 9-11 hours. Some kids will naturally need a bit more or less than that.
