If you live near Mexico, then the water is BAD. It may be okay to drink but it smells and you can see white particles in it.. I live Brownsville Texas, 3 miles away from Mexico and the water from my sink faucet SUCKS! I use to live Louisiana and Missouri and ALWAYS dranked from the faucet and it tasted a lot better than bottled water. I use to turn my head and to face the faucet looking up and let it come right in my mouth. No need for cups. :) Just have a clean sink if you have long hair..

Drink away!! Just do me a favor, let it run for 30 seconds to a minute on COLD to remove any sediment that might be in your pipes...THAT is what causes the troubles! OLD PIPES!! I've lived on City-water and Well water my ENTIRE life and never had trouble of any kind... Yes, city water has added flouride, but there's nothing like PURE COOOOOOLD Well water! I don't know where you are, and someplaces they say "DON'T DRINK THE WATER!" If that's the case, well, then DON'T!

Yes you can just lean over the spigot and drink just like people drink from a hose. Side effects no not unless you have really bad water.

In some places the water out of the tap is fine but in other areas I would NEVER drink the water.

Even if you're drinking from a well or a cistern, it shouldn't cause anything major. If you have treated water (i.e. if you are in a reasonably populated area that supplies water), then you'll even get extra added stuff in your water that's good for you - like fluoride - which you can't get in bottled water.

It depends on where you live. Some places' water systems are not clean enough for drinking.

Sure, if it floats your boat, just stick your head under the spicket and drink up. It won't have any side effects unless you have bad water.
