I'm interested in dermal anchor piercings. Could someone help with a few questions?

I was wondering how long do they take to heal?

On a scale of 1-10 what's the pain like?

Are they easy to have removed?

Roughly how much are they? (I'm in the UK but can convert to get a rough estimate)

Thanks for your help.

How long it takes for them to heal depends a lot on the location and how well they're taken care of. It could take as short as a couple weeks, but it'll probably take longer. I got mine done about a year ago, however, it was in a place where it got bumped a lot, so it would heal, and then get bumped, and I'd be back to where it was when I first got it.

As far as pain goes, I got one done, and it wasn't too bad, maybe a 5 or 6, but it got pulled out (which also, oddly enough, didn't hurt). Since I loved it so much, I went back to my piercing place and had it put in near where it was originally (since it's not a "regular" piercing, it couldn't just be put back in the same spot, we had to do the whole thing all over again). The second time was a 8 or 9 as far as pain goes. My piercer wanted to make sure it didn't fall out again, so he put it in tighter, and it was so painful, and it lasts longer than a traditional piercing too, so the pain lasted longer. However, I think it was worth it.

Removing them is trickier than a "regular" piercing too. My first one pulled out easily, but that shouldn't have happened. I ended up taking out the second one a couple weeks ago too because it kept getting bumped, which set the healing back further and further. My piercer told me to just pull it out, which I did, carefully. Taking it out wasn't anywhere near as bad as getting it done, but it still wasn't fun. I'd recommend getting it removed professionally unless you feel really confident in taking it out yourself. My friend had two she got removed at the piercing place and they pretty much just cut them out with a small incision. Either way it's not fun, and there will be a little scarring, but it's not too bad!

Also, how much they cost depends on where you go. I've heard anywhere from $20-$90.

Dermal Healing

1)It could take up to 4weeks to heal completely, more if it gets infected. It really just depends on your body and if you are trying to heal from anything else at the time, like a cold or a cut or another piercing. As long as you are health when you get it and wash it at least twice a day it should only take 2-3 weeks.
2)I have a high pain tolerance but I would still place it at about 8 or 9 just because of the location, you may even get a little light headed right after, but each day the number goes down.
3)You just go back to where you got it pierced for removal, but you will have a scar afterward so be sure you want it first.
4) Most places charge between $30-$40 (us dollars)
