No. Only the parents of the baby can make an adoption plan for the baby, not the grandparents. People should not be judgemental about people who are mature enough to make adoption plans for the best interests of the child. And they should also not be judgemental about people who have unplanned pregnancies. It has been happening since the beginning of time. Deal with it.

Unless there is some severe mental issues (severe mental retardation, coma, untreated schizophrenia) or the rights of the mother have been terminated by the court (like due to drug use or previous pedophilia), only the mother can make this decision even if she is only 15. I would hope the parents would support whatever decision the child makes because 15 is very young to have a baby.

No. Legally the 15 year old will have the final say. I know from personal experience. I had a child when I was 15 and chose to place the baby for adoption. The parents have no legal say in what happens.

oh god i hope not !! as a mother who has given up a child for adoption (3 years ago), i know first hand at how ot feels to give up a child and it is not something i would ever imagine forcing on someone. If you are a parent of the 15 year old, please remember that if you can force your child to do this and succeed, your child will resent you for the rest of her life !! Giving a child up for adoption if a choice and one only to be taken by the biological parent of the BABY involved

well i know that my sister was 15 and she signed papers for aunt to adopt her. i don't think they can do it with out your conscent also. but not sure why not call a adotpion agency in your state and ask. this was in 50's i think. or maybe60's so heck it out. the thing is they don't want to raise this baby and they would end up doing so you are pretty young. so why not give the child a chance to have a loving home and you go on with your life. you can have a opened adotpion and at 18 or so see the child or whatever i know it won't be the same but to stop the life by yourself. itsn't the best deal for anyone its hard enough to raise a child but by yourself its terrible. listen to your folks and try and get on with this you will be ok some day you can see this baby and relate to it. take care.

I think the best thing for this baby and the mother is have the parents help. So what if she is 15, the parents should help her. I am for adoption but, at this age the parents should think about the options and try to keep this baby. They need to make sure after the baby is born, the mother doesnt turn around and do this again. We all can sit her and judge her but its not our place to do that. We all make a mistake in our lifes(not that this baby is a mistake) so, let her make her choice and have the parents help.

In the state where I live, if a birth mother is under the age of 18 her parents also have to sign the relinquishment papers. Now, I don't know what would happen if the baby's mother wanted to keep the baby and the grandparents thought it should be placed for adoption.

You can offer your advise, but you can not render a final decision.

Becoming a mom emancipates a child, so to speak, from the decisions of their parents in respect to their baby.

Are you wanting the child adopted away, or are you wanting it to stay in the family?

Parenting should be the first option, and if it can't be done, then the grandparents should offer to try to parent or help parent the child.

Only after every avenue is exhausted should you consider adoption...and this is from an adoptive mother speaking to you.

If you are trying to get the child to adopt her baby away...consider what you're asking her to do.

Would you have given her away just because you were too young or it was otherwise inconvenient?

She will have to live with this EVERY day of her life...what she needs is support, not control.

The decision is usually up to the mother of the child, but check with the laws of your state.

No. The woman having the baby is the only one who can decide that. There is so much help out there for young mothers. Please Please Please don't let someone else make that decision for you or whomever we are talking about. The parents of this 15 year old will eventually come to terms with the situation. There is nothing that can be done about it now. If they don't come to terms with it then you must get some help elsewhere. This is a decision YOU will have to live with for the rest of your life.
