Simple, EVERY SINGLE TIME THAT YOU PICK UP A GUN you assume that it is loaded. You CHECK to make sure it is NOT loaded if you are going to be handling it. I was raised with Guns in my household and i own them now. I guarantee that i will NEVER accidentally shoot someone. Nor would any Child that i may have. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS assume that every Gun you handle is loaded until proven otherwise.

The first rule in handling a gun is always assume it is loaded. So if you hurt someone, do not blame the gun.
