Help: furniture placement in an odd room?

My family room was originally a one car garage. Let's call the walls A, B, C and D; the shorter walls are A and C. A is a solid wall except for a closet on the left end of the wall. To the right is wall B. There is a window on the end up against wall A. Just before the window ends below it is the left end of a fireplace. A second window starts just before the fireplace ends. This configuration takes up about 2/3 of the wall. The last third is just wall. The third wall, C, has a section parallel to A about two feet wide but then justs out at a diagonal to become a wall shaped like a bay window with three sections, each with waist to ceiling windows. The far side of C angles back into the room ending with another 2 foot long segment parallel to A. The fourth wall, D, is solid but where it meets A there is a doorway into the kitchen which is a step up. Any ideas on where to place sofa, chairs, 32" TV, etc? Thanks!

Why don't you put the sofa in front of the bay window facing Wall "A" and set the TV to one side of the door that has the step-up? If it is in front of a window, who cares? Put a dark curtain or shade over the window to block glare when the TV is on during the day. Next put some chairs, lamps, end tables and pictures along wall "D" and decorate a little. Be creative and pull your sofa or chairs out away from the wall or even into the middle of the room if necessary to make things work. Get a couple of big guys to move furniture around for you until you like the arrangement. You are only working with 2 or 3 hundred square feet of space, so don't expect a perfect arrangement, just make it comfortable.

I think you can place a T.V. at the center of width of wall A ( center of distance starting from end of closet to end of A) & make a seating arrangement in an L-shape, so that you can make good use of the fire place too. This will place the T.V. on the right half of the entire wall A.
Place a center table exactly infront of the fireplace. The sofa & chair arrangement should run parallel to wall B until the 2nd window starts, & turn into an L at the same point.
Also, make sure there is space left between the sofas for a person to move around.
If you need a dining table, place it against the wall D or against 2nd window of wall B, while reducing the other furniture placement area by moving it closer to each other.

You haven't said specifically what furniture needs to go into this room and what the room size is, so I'm just going to pluck those details.

Assuming the fireplace is used:

1. Sofa parallel with wall A-floating away from the wall so there is room to open the closet/kitchen doors and so someone can shimmy around behind.
TV on wall C and any additional chairs can be arrange opposite the fireplace. Coffee table? Arrange in front of fire place. End tables? End of sofa, between chairs? Keep space in front of bay window free to allow maximum light.

2. Float sofa parallel to wall D opposite fire place. TV can be in either corner of the room A-B walls or B-C or on wall C. Arrange chairs either end of sofa or in an L configuration (along wall A)

If fireplace is not used, no feature in the room:

1. Float sofa in front of fire place between the 2 windows, TV on wall D, arrange other seats in L shape configuration. End tables placed appropriately, coffee table in middle of room.

Open floor plan in a wierd shape slender and long room is demanding to artwork with. i might submit a a million/2 wall between the residing section and eating section and have heavy gentle blockading curtains, vertical blind or a rolling shutters door obtainable for the patio door and placed the television in front of a a million/2 wall. the only place for the settee is against the long wall and is seating for the television. the affection seat is sufficiently small if the lower back is fabric finished to have it in what's now that squared off carpet spot that i might decrease as a replace to a at once line approximately halfway for the duration of the middle of it. you wind up with a wasted short nook spot interior the decrease end that could in good shape an end table or cupboard. i might possibly upload locking rolling wheels onto the backside of the affection seat to have the skill to get it out of ways in case you entertain a style people.
