I was just wondering what are some possible medical reasons someone may have where they are overweight? Maybe like insulin/glucose/blood sugar problems?

Just like in humans, his obesity can be caused by a thyroid problem or a slow metabolism. If the dog's weight is really an issue, the vet should be much more concerned. My dog is about 5 lbs overweight, and my vet gave me a huge lecture about canine nutrition and exercise.

Hypothyroidism, Cushing's Disease and Prader-Willi Syndrome are three conditions that cause people to be overweight. Hypothyroidism is pretty common.

There is also a disease that interferes with your nervous system that causes your brain to not receive the message that your stomach is full, causing these people to always be hungry, so much that you have to lock cabinets and refrigerators
