New York Board of Elections Spokesman Lee Daghlian admits, “It would be [tough to catch] if someone wanted to …. get a number of people registered [to vote] who aren’t citizens and went ahead and got them driver’s licenses”. Once again, Governor Spitzer’s ill-conceived plan would compromise the integrity of our electoral system and make more vulnerable an electoral process that a growing number of Americans are already suspicious of.
Like so many politicians on both sides of the aisle, Governor Spitzer is not listening to New Yorkers. While 70% of the legal citizens of New York oppose this plan, Governor Spitzer stands firm in his resolve to enact this irresponsible and dangerous measure.
Let's be clear: the safety and security of Americans should not be subject to the whims of a "PC" mindset or feel good legislation. Americans are expecting thoughtful and responsible leadership that will not only clearly define the threats we face, but understand what they are in the first place.
Governor Spitzer's plan is not a cause for celebration by the left or by the right; it is just plain bad public policy. When grappling with the important issues, Americans want elected leadership to put aside partisan politics and just make the right decision. The non-partisan public outcry that has accompanied attempts by politicians to grant some form of amnesty to illegal immigrants supports this fact. The Spitzer plan is no different because for many of us, citizenship is a terrible thing to waste.

Of course it will be used to do just that, that's the only reason some states want to give licences to Illegals. It's no accident that New York is wanting to do this just before Hillary is going to have to run against a Republican with a lot of popularity in New York.
And I really love all those who seem to think that you have to show more ID than a drivers licence to register, funny that's all I've ever had to show. Therefore the entire purpose is to get Illegals on the voting rolls,as if they don't already do enough damage to the country.

it somewhat is incorrect on maximum of levels. a million) Issuing them a license does not grant coverage to conceal any injury they'd do. 2) It rewards human beings for criminal habit. 3) they'd, and quite some will, use them to acquire voter registration enjoying cards. 4) the final public of them would vote Democratic on the grounds that a Republican president would repeal the license rules. 5) it might destroy the two occasion equipment in united statesa.. 6) it might help Hillary get into the white domicile. A destiny worse than dying for united statesa..

Actually you have to be a US citizen in order to vote, it's US law.
Not sure where you get your information that if a illegal has a driver's license they can vote.

Bad idea of course.
But a good question for all the Dem presidential candidates - because they want DLs for illegals and no hassle voting at the polls. Sounds like a recipe for illegal alien voting to me.

To register to vote a person has to have more than just a drivers license, you are way off base. So you are probably not old enough to vote.

BAD IDEA!!! Of course it's a bad idea! The only reason for illegals to vote is to gain support for the idiots who want to keep these worthless criminals here in the US to continue to suck the life out of our assistance programs and drive up crime rates. How can that be good? DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS!!!!!!! Eliminate anchor babies! No free citizenship!

Bad idea. I like the fact they can't vote, legally. Come to think of it, if they had done immigration the legal way, than they could have voted. But NO, they had to pay 5 grand to a lowlife coyote.. oh well. I hope they get arrested when they apply too.
